Welcome to season three of the Cannaba Verum podcast, the cannabis truth podcast. I speak the language of cannabis freely and uncensored while educating my audience on safe use of this live plant therapy. You should know what’s in your cannabis. What’s good and what’s not. It does not come with an FDA stamp of approval yet.
Using cannabis mindfully as medication is a different concept in Western healthcare philosophy, specifically the past 100 years. There’s a lot to learn and reconsider. The information you’ll find here comes straight from the scientists and clinicians doing the work and reporting their findings in real time through various live online outlets. The scientific truth of cannabis is finally getting out and is wide open for all to see at respected medical sites like www.pubmed.gov and JAMA, the Journal of American Medical Association (jamanetwork.com).
I’m right there in the thick of it with all those titans of medicine as a fly on the wall. Because I’m not a doctor. I didn’t go to med school. I did take dozens of private cannabis courses offered by cannabis expert scientists online over the past few years and slowly began to see and understand the bigger picture.
Well, I can talk to people all day long about cannabis… and hopefully inspire them to research the facts as we know them today.
Cannabis is an amazing alternative in health remedies that can reportedly alleviate typical disease problems and troubling side effects caused by synthetic prescriptions. This is Honey Smith Walls, a 21st century cannabis shaman… not a doctor… not a scientist. Raised by nuns and wolves in the verdant cattle pastures of the Oklahoma oil fields. I’m here to amplify the truth of this great big story and language of cannabis in historical, political and scientific terms… so you can make educated decisions about the medicine you choose to ingest.

Do I have you? Yes, yes. Hi. I’m fine. It’s such a thrill. I gotta tell you, I’ve just been jumping out of my seat, wanting to hear you.
Renae McCain, CEO 0:20
Awesome. I’ve been looking forward today too.
Honey Smith Walls 0:22
I’m so glad. Well, just for the sake of my audience, won’t you please introduce yourself, honey and tell them how you and I happen to be in this space together?
Renae McCain, CEO 0:35
Well, hello everyone. So my name is Renee and I am owner of I Heart chronic radio. And we are a cannabis friendly internet radio station that caters to educating the general public about cannabis and also promoting independent artists. And basically, it’s themed around cannabis music, or cannabis-inspired music. So that’s kind of what I do. And I came to find Honey because I was looking to kind of kind of change up the social media platforms in which I associate myself. And so I found Honey on LinkedIn let’s see, I guess it’s been a couple of days ago.
Honey Smith Walls 1:27
So yeah, that was really fast. I’m just really tickled, that’s my science tribe that I hang out with it at LinkedIn. So I was really tickled to find you there. And it just led to your interest in the science of cannabis as well. And what that work is and what the guys are saying in the field because, golly, it’s a whole brand new industry, not only for an ancient plant, but the terminology that’s coming about, you know, the language is rolling really… right underneath our feet. So cannabinoid ologists cannabinoid, ology cannabinoid ohm, you know, all of these different words and, of course, just trying to name the 1000s of compounds… hundreds of cannabinoids, hundreds of terpenes… 1000s of of compounds.
Renae McCain, CEO 2:31
THC for short.
Honey Smith Walls 2:33
Yeah. Tetrahydrocannabinol.Yeah, yeah, right. And then they get the D-eight. So now it’s Delta eight tetrahydrocannabinol you know, and Right, right. So I’m really interested to hear about the cannabis music in this industry. I’m a musician. I’ve got my own band. We play early music, which is 13th 14th century stuff. And we just all party. Yeah, we’re all old gypsies. None of us practice but we’ve been playing together for 15 years. So we’re really, really good at what we do now. And we’ve got no competition. We’re in Melbourne, a small town. So we just have a ball playing. But I’ve been wanting to write some lyrics and talk about my passion… just haven’t had the time to do it. And you know, lyrics are a tricky thing.
Renae McCain, CEO 3:36
I bet… I’m not a musician myself. I can play the stereo and I don’t like consider myself an expert on any type of sound. You know, most people who know me know that I don’t really care so much for Bruce Springsteen. You know what I mean?
Honey Smith Walls 4:01
Oh, because he’s a screamer?
Renae McCain, CEO 4:05
I mean, no disrespect because you know, there are many, many people who love him… there are billions. It’s just not my sound, you know?
Honey Smith Walls 4:11
It’s not mine either. I’m more like Sammy Davis Jr. If you even remember who he was.
Renae McCain, CEO 4:22
I know who he is. Yeah. Smooth Voice. I don’t try to discriminate between people who send me their music because something that I don’t like… that somebody else might. Oh, for sure. So I always try to keep that in mind. I’m kind of straying off I think. What was the question?
Honey Smith Walls 4:40
I was wondering who brings music to you? What does it sound like? How many genres are there of cannabis music and stuff like that?
Renae McCain, CEO 4:55
Wow. Cannabis music. It was Khalifa for instance. You know, he’s brought a lot of awareness to cannabis. There’s a whole lot of different ones, Devin the Dude… Twist… They even talk about Mary J. Blige to name a couple. They even have Cannabis Court, you know, the more Metal genre… and let’s not forget about all the jazz music from the 1920s… You know, well, yeah, a lot of that was… they call them Vipers, Reggae, Rita Marley and Bob Marley.
Honey Smith Walls 5:33
Right.
Renae McCain, CEO 5:34
You know, I mean, like, there really is a lot of different genres that talk about cannabis use. How it makes them feel…the whole thing. So I try to keep a lot of that type of music in my regular rotation and then as people send me music, that are indie artists, you know, I play that too.
Honey Smith Walls 5:56
It’s so interesting.
Renae McCain, CEO 5:59
In my opinion, Nothing goes better than cannabis and music. I mean, cannabis, that you love just as much as music.
Honey Smith Walls 6:06
Girl, I tell everybody, it’s a tool. Both of them are tools to help improve your quality of life.
Renae McCain, CEO 6:14
Different people respond to music in different ways. And that’s obviously because of different musical preferences between one individual and another. And that’s why I try to keep as much variety as possible.
Yeah, so for me, I’m always trying to procure the internet for different people. So I’ll scroll on the internet and I’ll be like, Okay, so who thinks that indie artists are these people who haven’t been signed or Oh, I like this music and it’s about weed. But also I try to break the mold too, because you know, one of the things that the world has, very little of or not enough of is cannabis education. So I also try to procure podcasts that speak to cannabis in many different ways. You know, whether it’s some type of comedy, or something like the dime podcast that I actually promote, and I do a rebroadcast on Fridays at 420. That’s Central Standard Time. But there are a lot more serious for those who have more of a serious interest in what’s going on in the industry. I just rebranded probably a couple of months ago now. Previously, I was on 420 radio, and I had a little bit more of a team with me. I’m flying solo now.
Honey Smith Walls 7:39
I know how that feels.
Renae McCain, CEO 7:42
Well, you know, I mean, it was something that needed to happen. Yeah. You know, internal issue there. You know, sometimes we gotta get back to where we want it to be. That’s right.
Honey Smith Walls 7:53
After all, we are designing our own paths, each and every one. Right.
Renae McCain, CEO 7:58
Right. And so now, you know, I’m obviously always looking for content. I always try to ask permission from different podcasts because I’d rather have somebody in the industry. It’d be something that we know that is going on, and you know, I want these people to know that I’m interested in their information and I would like to share it to somebody else. You know, I always try to do that with permission.
Honey Smith Walls 8:22
So that’s great. There are several other podcasts on in our LinkedIn tribe that are just fantastic too… like the Cannigma… you know them? With Dr. Codi Peterson and oh gosh, you should try to get them on because they are the fact makers.
Renae McCain, CEO 8:43
You’ll have to hook me up there.
Honey Smith Walls 8:45
I definitely will honey.
Renae McCain, CEO 8:47
I’m actually pretty new to LinkedIn. I have had a LinkedIn before but it’s been some many years ago and so I didn’t have one for iheartkronikradio. In the past. I have staged sidewalk protests and stuff and supported cannabis. You know, I’ve been to our Texas State Capitol protesting for our cannabis rights.
Honey Smith Walls 9:11
OH! Thank you for that service to our country. Seriously,
Renae McCain, CEO 9:16
Texas is gonna be one of the very last to legalize… oh, well…
Honey Smith Walls 9:22
I guess they don’t like money for taxes but I’m sorry they’re so fucking stupid. And it’s mostly male led stupidity. So you know…
Renae McCain, CEO 9:30
I’m very dismayed that we had a choice of a governor, but being a libertarian. He definitely didn’t make it into much news or media airtime. They usually don’t.
Honey Smith Walls 9:43
Well, I can’t criticize Texas when I live in Florida. And it’s like more like Floriduhhh. Yeah, right. It’s a good pair. Not a good pair. But, you know, we just need more women to take control of both of these states who have not been propagandized by the men who’ve been bullying them all their lives.
Renae McCain, CEO 10:08
yeah, and the thing is… we’ve also had a lot of good men. Though.
Honey Smith Walls 10:14
Thank you for saying that out loud. I love men.
Renae McCain, CEO 10:18
There’s a lot of men out there that have made a huge difference in the cannabis industry.
Honey Smith Walls 10:23
Because they’ve elevated their minds to think to think of women equally.
Renae McCain, CEO 10:27
Politics hasn’t quite got there yet.
Honey Smith Walls 10:31
Politics haven’t gotten there yet.
Renae McCain, CEO 10:34
But you know, I’m of the opinion that cannabis should not be regulated like alcohol. There’s a lot of people who will settle for less than what we deserve.
Honey Smith Walls 10:47
I don’t want insurance to get its grubby fingers all over it either.
Renae McCain, CEO 10:56
That’s the tobacco industry. The industry under the color of Altria. You know, the thing is, unfortunately, I’m a smoker of cigarettes, and it’s a horrible thing. I’ve tried on numerous occasions to stop but one of the things that I do know, is I’ve gotten little pamphlets and my cigarettes that says that the federal government, in the form of the Supreme Court orders Philip Morris to put these little pamphlets in there that said that they put chemicals in your tobacco to create and sustain addiction. So they’re going to do that to my tobacco. What are they going to do to my cannabis?
Honey Smith Walls 11:36
It will if you don’t have a certificate of analysis on your cannabis you just won’t know now will ya…
Renae McCain, CEO 11:41
Why? Right. I mean, you think that you’d have to have the same type of standards for cigarettes…
Honey Smith Walls 11:47
You would think but they don’t. What we find out about our food industry is horrifying. And I’m like… OMG.
Renae McCain, CEO 12:00
We laugh about it, but it’s I think for me it’s… I laugh about it to keep from crying because yeah, for me to go to the grocery store and go shopping it’s uh you know, I dub it in my family… we call it “pick your poison day”. Grocery shopping for food. Knowing that I know you know our food industry and you know, different trade organizations in which different governments across the world subscribe to. Yeah, most people don’t know or have never heard of what the Codex Alimentarius is but I’ll tell you what… it doesn’t look out for the people.
Honey Smith Walls 12:32
So I looked at that, it was a video… right…. that you said The Codex Alimentarius, Codex Alimentarius.
Renae McCain, CEO 12:48
I believe that’s the pronunciation but I could be wrong
Honey Smith Walls 12:52
Splain that to us, please. Ah, yeah, well, it’s deep. It’s heavy.
Renae McCain, CEO 12:59
Yeah, you know, and I don’t know that I can go into it with as much detail…
Honey Smith Walls 13:03
No, just give us a little overview of what the name means.
Renae McCain, CEO 13:07
I have a really hard time trusting… I mean after World War Two, you had the Nuremberg Trials, and people were put in jail for crimes against humanity. But then you give them the mantle to carry on a trade organization and outside of prison for having been in there for crimes against humanity, and then allow these two men to come out here and dominate the world in this type of a way… and their whole thought about it is: He who controls the food controls the world.
What we eat is irradiated. Think about that… while that might not actually harm us directly… when you start radiating things, what does that do? It kills nutrients out of the food…not all of them. But I mean, if you’re eating an apple and you think that you’re getting X amount of nutrients out of it, but you’re not really getting X amount of nutrients out of it, because it’s going through this process. I mean, look at this, you know, the Codex Alimentarius was passed. It’s been over 10 years, it’s been over 15. Now, you know, but have you noticed, like, how our young girls started developing faster because you start putting all these hormones in food?
Honey Smith Walls 14:34
Oh, yeah, when you’re saying a ten year old girl can get pregnant… it’s because of the shit she’s been eating.
Renae McCain, CEO 14:40
Yeah that’s not really a natural thing. I mean, it’s not natural, taken out of context, because we have companies putting unwanted chemicals in our food for the sake of preservation. But these chemicals poison people. And nobody ever accounts for the detriment that the food costs.
Honey Smith Walls 15:04
Like you said, if you own a corporation that protects you from getting charged with crimes against humanity…Yeah. Right. Ohhhhh the cynicism I have for man’s world.
Renae McCain, CEO 15:22
I encourage everybody… I can’t explain it the way that would do it justice. But if you’re really interested in the food, and what it’s doing to us, and what’s allowable, please… I encourage everybody to look up and familiarize yourself with the Codex Alimentarius.
Honey Smith Walls 15:41
And I’m just pointing a finger right where it goes. To those white guys who are corporate heads, who feel like it doesn’t matter what happens to the people.
Renae McCain, CEO 15:50
That’s the whole thing and I think about that and then Harry Anslinger when cannabis became illegal, because it wasn’t ever a situation that oh my god…cannabis killed a whole fuck ton of people and now we should ban it. I mean, that’s not how it happened. You had a very biased man, Harry Anslinger. And he had Hearst media, and they propagated this danger out there, that didn’t exist.
Honey Smith Walls 16:21
So, Harry Anslinger was the attorney general in the 30s and 40s.
Renae McCain, CEO 16:29
And he testified that he smoked weed, and it turned him into a bat. The thing that makes me really confused is if I went into a courtroom today, or even back then brought a gun into a courtroom, and I said that I drank some wine, and it turned me into a bat. I’m going to tell you that they would have not allowed me to go around the world and influence drug policy. They would have, they would have allowed me to be escorted out probably in a straight jacket!
Honey Smith Walls 16:55
In a straight jacket!
Renae McCain, CEO 17:00
You know, there’s that little nugget of thought that I just don’t understand… because it was racial, their motive.
Honey Smith Walls 17:11
Exactly. And, you know, he didn’t start all that. No, no, because no, William Hearst, you know, the big paper newspaper magnate owned all of that property that had woods on it that he needed to sell his paper magazines. And so when he found out that there were all these Mexican marijuana murder mysteries stories down south, he set up shop down in Mexico City, and had his reporters go out and collect these stories, turn them into comic books, and then drag them all back up here in the United States, and start passing them around like they were the truth of the matter.
Renae McCain, CEO 18:00
And then the Reefer Madness movie.
Honey Smith Walls 18:04
All that history. It’s just… fascinating,
Renae McCain, CEO 18:08
Isn’t it? No, the American Medical Association didn’t want to ban cannabis.
Honey Smith Walls 18:14
They tried desperately to save it.
Renae McCain, CEO 18:17
The marijuana tax act of 1937. That’s it.
Honey Smith Walls 18:23
And and the the commissioners on that tax act just completely disregarded what the AMA said at the time.
Renae McCain, CEO 18:32
You know LaGuardia Airport? Yes. LaGuardia actually fought for legalization.
Honey Smith Walls 18:40
Oh Mayor LaGuardia and the LaGuardia Commission. Yeah, named after him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And so there were some people trying to bring sense but that’s how corruption works… like DeSantis. You know, he thinks that every time he opens his mouth that it’s the God’s honest truth. And people are going to believe him. Right? Right. But when you spread lies and you say one thing and you do completely opposite and you hurt the people of your community, then eventually that corruption of heart is going to come to light and so I think Texas and Florida both have their come-upins and they’re gonna get it eventually. Because they’re both gonna turn purple and then they’re gonna turn.
Renae McCain, CEO 19:42
Our state is just as corrupt as always. Yes. All you have to do is look at Ken Paxton to know about ours. I mean, like, how many people get charged with felony crimes and go seven years holding office and never stood trial?
Honey Smith Walls 19:57
Well, Trump is coming right up behind him.
Renae McCain, CEO 20:01
So you know, there really is a lot of people who should be looked at…it’s frustrating for people like you and I, because we just really want people up there to represent the people, you know, and really representing the people and they’re representing a lot of their own self interests.
Honey Smith Walls 20:23
Their own personal biblical writers reminded us in bigotries that is really harming our ability as a collective community to have brilliant minds coming from other places than just those old white guys. Who think they know it all. So well, I’m sorry, I sure went off the deep end.
Renae McCain, CEO 20:56
No, I mean, sometimes just saying things that need to be said is important, though.
Honey Smith Walls 21:00
Oh, I hold it in a lot too. And don’t say it because I’m just singing to the choir. I know I am with you. But everybody knows me. This is me, they get me.
Renae McCain, CEO 21:16
Pretty outspoken. And you have to be in order to be heard these days. You have to be able to say what’s going on, you know, what’s on your mind.
Otherwise I change platforms. For instance, from Facebook, I used to have presence on Facebook. Okay. And you know, a lot of shadow banning happens…that like the contents there say for instance, I was involved with cannabis open carry walks a couple of years ago, but if you go on Facebook and you Google that, you’re probably not going to find it. But if you’re already involved in it, then you know, you can still find it. You know what I mean?
Honey Smith Walls 22:03
Do you know about the app called Canna Buzz? C A N N A, and then the second word is B U Z Z. You should check it out. It’s really cute. It’s all stoners. It’s really really, really, really seriously Rec. But I’ve seen music on there. Original music and and I get on there and just do my little educational tidbits. And say hi to the kiddies and try to get some edu in their minds about what they’re doing with all those 1000s of compounds that they’re sucking up without any idea of what’s happening.
Renae McCain, CEO 22:43
I do have to say, you know, I want to give kudos to everyone that has ever spoken in favor of cannabis, including people that don’t smoke or don’t partake at all. Yeah, I mean, the more people talk about it, and that’s a lot of what it is, planting the seeds, normalizing it and exactly the more you talk about it, the more it creates a conversation. The conversation, you know, the more people are willing to learn. I mean, I’ve known people who never smoked ever and have no desire to but they support people who want that. And that’s the biggest thing you know, for me, you don’t have to partake.
Honey Smith Walls 23:22
You also don’t have you smoke and most people who don’t want to smoke, eventually find out that they can utilize cannabis in many, many, many other ways without smoking.
Renae McCain, CEO 23:33
I find that that’s often the first thing that people are saying. So if I talk about cannabis, the first thing that they’re assuming is I’m talking about smoking it Yeah. And there’s so many different ways to partake. I mean, you know, putting CBD oil in a lotion that you’re like your favorite lotion that you’d like to use on your skin.
Honey Smith Walls 23:52
Putting your stems from your flower and have a nice hot tea in the morning. Hang on a second. Let me holler at my little mongrels barkin over there.

Dr. Mazo Commercial
By Honey Smith Walls
Hey, my friends, I want to give you a tip about a neurologist I know and trust.
Dr. Anthony Mazo is a highly rated specialist here in Melbourne, Florida.
One of the first physicians to research and study cannabis since 2016 when it was legalized in Florida, Dr. Mazo is not quick to prescribe traditional synthetic chemicals when he knows that this gentle live plant therapy will likely give the needed relief.
I know this to be true because I had to see him for my own old lady neuropathy issues. He did not prescribe the usual synthetic stuff. He told me to go get a particular kind of cannabis instead… and use it in a specific way to find relief.
And that is what every doctor in America should have in their little black bag.
His clinic details will be in my show notes for you. Why? Because he’s a trusted cannabis expert in the field of neurology. Dr.Anthony Mazo, a great friend to all of us.
In Melbourne, FL at the Brevard Neuro Center.

In order for your endocannabinoid system to work properly, you have to have cannabinoids. While you can get cannabinoids from other places outside of the cannabis plant, the cannabis plant is the most plentiful. And so I highly doubt that people who have never partaken in cannabis, have a properly working endocannabinoid system because in the past before it was banned, you know people used to get cannabinoids a lot more readily than what they can now…. yes everywhere.
Honey Smith Walls 0:34
Right and so, you know, over the counter even.
Renae McCain, CEO 0:39
Having never had a real balance in your body…you really probably don’t know what it feels like to really feel good.
Honey Smith Walls 0:47
I’m hoping that these kinds of conversations will become the norm so that people will begin to learn about the alchemy of cannabis. And I’m learning about mushrooms, too. You know, I’m talking because there’s overlap both the fungi and the plant have terpenes and different chemical compounds in them…
Renae McCain, CEO 1:18
…that help to kind of rewire the brain.
Honey Smith Walls 1:23
And well there’s just all kinds of stuff going on with psilocybin and micro dosing… again, there’s a lot of overlap in the language of mushrooms and cannabis and healing. And both of them are spiritual and both of them are medicinal… you know, physically medicinal and physically active, have active compounds that do active things in your body to make you heal. So even to the point of regenerating neurons and protecting your neurons and fixing neurons, retro protective of your neurons. It’s sort of I don’t know if I have this right, but it felt like to me that meant that you could take a broken neuron and kind of glue it back together but what do I know… that’s just my corny armchair science prediction of how that visualization goes.
Renae McCain, CEO 2:34
But mushrooms… I admit that I don’t know a whole whole lot but I’m brand new to a topic that you know I’m trying to learn more about it…
Honey Smith Walls 2:43
but they do have wonderful songs about it. Oh, here’s another source for you. Are you familiar with Great Moments in Weed History Podcast? They are fantastic!
Renae McCain, CEO 3:00
Yes, actually, they are.
Honey Smith Walls 3:02
Oh God I love their Christmas stories about mushrooms and Santa Claus and all of that. And why Santa Claus wears a red fluffy hat with a great big white ball. On the end of it and all of that hysterical story… the whole thing, you know?
Renae McCain, CEO 3:25
I actually hadn’t thought of that one in a long time. I’m glad you brought that one up.
Honey Smith Walls 3:29
It’s cute as the Dickens and time for them to reproduce it again. Then they had one about John Lennon that just blew my mind about John Lennon versus the United States or it was the United States against versus John Lennon and how it was Yoko Ono and the predicament that she found herself in through divorce and child separation and her ex husband stole their child for years. Right. And it was through all of that stuff with Yoko Ono that our immigration laws began happening.
Renae McCain, CEO 4:15
I don’t think I was really aware of that.
Honey Smith Walls 4:18
Of course they tell the story so much better than I just did… I just gave you a little taste of it. So but yeah, they are really spot on. And I find their sourcing trustworthy you know, and all of that so… I trust them. I’ve been listening to them for years… really great source.
Renae McCain, CEO 4:42
Wonderful history. Yeah.
Honey Smith Walls 4:53
So I listen to some of the others like Cannabis 101 and the Cannigma…They put enigma and cannabis together. So a bunch of scientists… Ilana Goldberg is in Israel, podcasting. And Codi Peterson is out in California. He’s a pediatric hospital pharmacist. Pretty cool. No kidding… And cannabis expert who does all the legwork about these compounds teaching us… so anyway…
Renae McCain, CEO 5:42
We learned about the endocannabinoid system in the mid 80s. It’ll be like such a happy day whenever it’s a lot more accepted science within the medical community and it’s something that is more of a go to, because, I mean, personally, I was always told and I’ve found this to be true, I don’t use pharmaceuticals myself and haven’t for a good number of years. But, you know, I was always told growing up that everything that ails us, the solution can be found in nature. And, you know, I believe that a good part of that is true.
Honey Smith Walls 6:23
Well, our western style of medicine does not allow for plants anymore because they want everything to turn into a powder and a pill that you can take in a timely way and La la la la. So plant medicine just doesn’t factor into the corporate way of making money off of prescriptive medication.
Renae McCain, CEO 6:50
That good old profit over people… Yeah.
Honey Smith Walls 6:53
And you can see that corporate really doesn’t know what the fuck to do in the cannabis industry. Because they’ve screwed it up already. You know, they screwed it up already. They have. But it’s the legislators that prompted that. So you know, these idiot legislators that don’t know the first thing about cannabis or what it will or won’t do to us, making all of this legislation that is just harming so many people that made it impossible for anybody to make money on cannabis and that made it impossible for people to get at cannabis who really need it. And that is infuriating to know.
Renae McCain, CEO 7:29
And the sad thing is, they’ve got people kind of between a rock and a hard spot… and in my endeavors of being an activist and trying to spread information about this planet. You know, one thing that I hear the most common is there’s people that would love to speak about this plant… in favor of this plant and how helpful it is, but they can’t lose their jobs.
Honey Smith Walls 7:55
Right. Oh, god, yeah, they can’t even speak about it.
Renae McCain, CEO 7:59
Suppression. You know, the fear of voicing their opinion about a harmless plant. Exactly. You know, I mean, that’s not the person. I don’t know what it is. And, you know, I feel bad for those people. Because this is the kind of thing that happens, not just here, but it’s all over the world. Yeah, you know, in different various things. You know, they’re, like all different types of topics, not just cannabis. You know, people are scared to speak up in fear of being able to not provide for their family, be able to provide for themselves and for fear of retaliation.
Honey Smith Walls 8:40
Well, we live in fear, we have always lived in fear and just dealt with it, and we call it stress… and that’s how we program ourselves to live. So I think we’ve got more power over our happiness, and our day.
Renae McCain, CEO 9:02
There’s something that we can do about it. Here’s what we do about it, you know, consistently educate people about jury nullification…
Honey Smith Walls
About what?
Renae McCain, CEO
Jury nullification.
You get arrested for an amount of cannabis. I don’t care how large it is. All right. But if your jury is informed, like say that you have a jury that’s full up of people there who, who disagrees that cannabis should be illegal to begin with.
So while that person may be guilty of breaking the law, you don’t care because you don’t think that it’s a good law to begin with. So you can vote not guilty for that person and there’s nothing that a court can do. And they have to let that person go. As long as that jury is all in agreement.
But see… they don’t they don’t tell people about jury nullification. And that’s one of the biggest, biggest, biggest tools that we have in our tool bag.
Honey Smith Walls 10:02
Well, I’ve never heard that aspect before, but I can see where you’re coming from.
Renae McCain, CEO 10:08
It’s basically like this in a nutshell. It’s a refers to a jury, and I’m going to take this absolutely off the cornell.edu website, and I’m going to quote it word for word.
Okay, just the first little bit it says jury nullification refers to a jury’s knowing and deliberate rejection of the evidence or refusal to apply the law, either because the jury wants to send a message about some social issue that is larger than the case itself, or because the result dictated by the law is contrary to the jury’s sense of justice, morality or fairness.
Essentially with jury nullification, the jury returned a not guilty verdict, even if the jurors believe beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant broke the law.
This kind of this can occur because a not guilty verdict cannot be overturned and juries are protected regardless of their verdicts. If you’re in a jury selection, and that attorney who’s quizzing you about whether or not they want to keep you here, they’re out there doing jury selection. If they know that you know about jury selection, I can guarantee you they will not want to have you on that jury, because you have too much power and then therefore they will remove you if you start talking about it to other jurors.
So it’s really important that jurors come in and they’re formed to begin with that way that they can work in unison. You know, if they all feel that same way about something. So if you get a juror of a whole bunch of cannabis people who really believe that this plant should not be illegal but this person is up for trial for having an amount of illegal cannabis, that jury can make that person’s life.
Honey Smith Walls 11:51
It certainly leads us into another conversation about corruption in our system and how we need to get cleaned up. Again, it’s corruption in the system and all our systems have corruption in them. But that doesn’t mean that all the people that run the systems are bad people. Right? You know, this has been going on for a long, long, long, long, long, long time.
Renae McCain, CEO 12:15
Absolutely. And education is not a new thing. It’s just these lawmakers that make laws every single day, you know, as the United States citizens. We’re we’re tasked with knowing what our laws are, but I mean like how can we possibly?
Honey Smith Walls 12:35
We can’t… there’s no standardization in education. And it’s so frustrating, because, you know, again, I’m 68 years old, just now learning all the stuff that I need to know to survive well on this planet. Right, right. Yeah, right.
So how can we get in touch with you again, and I’m so tickled that we finally got together.
Renae McCain, CEO 12:58

FINI:
You’ve been listening to another Cannaba Verum podcast with 21st century cannabis shaman Honey Smith Walls about the importance of using verifiably safe products. The process of getting a diagnosis from your family doctor and taking your records to a cannabis specialist can lead you to the correct cannabinoid therapy for those issues. Otherwise, you’re just your own guinea pig looking for answers without any foundational knowledge or ability to determine the best choices or strategies.
To find a qualified cannabis expert in your area… visit www.cannabisclinicians.org.
It is a national society of cannabis experts and you’ll see that link down in my show notes.
Unless otherwise proven by a reputable third party lab test, please be advised that all street weed is contaminated. It may do grave harm to a patient with a delicate immune system who already has inflammatory issues like arthritis, IBS, fibromyalgia or worse.
Subscribe to the Cannaba Verum podcast and become part of a project to understand the effects of cannabis on the public. Your anecdotal testimony is priceless to me. Cannaba Verum is Latin for Cannabis Truth. Sourcing factual information about cannabis hasn’t always been easy for a variety of reasons. However now because of modern innovations, it is. My sources are from leaders in cannabis science like:
Roger Adams, U.S. Organic Chemist who isolated the structure of CBD,
Raphael Mechoulam, Israeli Organic Chemist who isolated the structure of THC,
Ethan Russo, Dir R&D International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute
Dustin Sulak, DO – my favorite doctor at healer.com, teaching the art of Cannabis Healing to the world, and other industry greats like:
Rev. Dr. Kymron DeCesare, Ed Rosenthal, Jack Herer, Michael Backes, and Michael Pollen and so many more… plus I use classical sites like: PubMed.gov, JAMAnetwork.com, ResearchGate.com. I listen to several daily podcasts to keep up with the latest cannabis news across the nation and throughout the world like: Dr. Codi Peterson et al on The Cannigma Podcast, MJTodayDaily.com and MarijuanaMoment.net. I trust the CBDProject.org and CannabisScienceTech.com. I watch the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) at: thecannabisindustry.org and many more like: NCIA’s Cannabis Industry VOICE (CannabisRadio.com)
Over past episodes of Cannaba Verum, we’ve listened to some amazing scientists and medical professionals talk about their discoveries and patient successes as hundreds of questionable compounds rise to the public grasp. I am especially interested in the pharmacists movement becoming an integral part of this new medicinal choice.
Watch this machine roll into action through conversations with pharmacy doctors all over the nation like Dr. Leah Johnson and Dr. Codi Peterson out West and Dr. Alan Ao up North. There are so many more getting involved now… these are just a few who have come on my show to explain the situation and it’s fascinating.

PS: Helping society get past the fear of using cannabis will be a lifelong journey for me. This industry is just opening up and most patients and doctors are seriously cannabis naive and need help understanding where to turn for trustworthy information.
If you need help opening that cannabis discussion with your family doctor, please reach out and grab the Dear Doctor Letter I wrote for this exact purpose. It will explain your decision to try cannabis and ask for their help in monitoring your labs and progress. It will also show them where they can find medical research on the subject of your diagnosis and the effects of cannabis.
You’ll find that letter at cannabaverum.com
