CV 042 Binge 3 Dr. Leah

June 18, 2021

Welcome to the Cannaba Verum podcast, the cannabis truth podcast. I speak the language of cannabis freely and uncensored, while educating my audience on the safe use of this live Plant Therapy. You should know what’s in your cannabis, what’s good and what’s not. It does not come with an FDA stamp of approval yet, using cannabis mindfully, as medication is a different concept in the healthcare philosophy of the past 100 years. There’s a lot to learn and consider cannabis is not dangerous, but it is not harmless, either. This is honey Smith walls, a 21st century cannabis shaman here to explain the language of cannabis in historical, political, and scientific terms, so you can make educated decisions about the medicine you ingest.

Unknown 1:01

Hey, my friends. I’m so tickled you can come back to hear the conclusion of my conversation with Dr Leah Johnson. She is just an amazing powerhouse of information, and such a fun girl to talk to. Gosh, smarty pants. Anyway, wanted to remind you that you can always get in touch with her, she said, Don’t be shy. By using her email which I’ll give you at the end of the podcast, or her private telephone number. Goodness sakes, hang on. Here we go. The final episode of my series with Dr Leah Johnson.

Unknown 1:48

I’m so sorry. Listen, I just I know it’s crazy Wi Fi we can’t do anything with it. Can’t shoot it but I’m again, I’m so grateful for the technology and apologies for kicking us off. I was about to say that I’ve got, you know I still know a lot of people that can’t afford to go the legal route of getting their cannabis and they’re still using Street weed, and, you know, of course it’s all contaminated. And so I tried to tell them to mitigate the damage that they’re doing to themselves, because they’re already old farts and they’re already on, you know, handfuls of prescription pills that at least their insurance will pay for, but they go out and they, they use the contaminated straight weight and I try to tell them, you can mitigate that by using some over the counter him to alleviate a lot of, you know maybe those aches and pains and inflammation and sleeping issues that you’re having. And that way, you maybe can get off some of the other pills and you can certainly microdose your st wheat so that you’re not, you know, taking in more poison and contamination into your system that’s doing more harm than everything.

Unknown 3:15

What I usually recommend to my patients for that is I, first we’ll say, depending on what they’re treating I mean there are some things where you really need THC because the CBD is just not going to fly especially for like, mood disorders or anything that anything that’s like psychoactive anything thing related you have to be really careful about THC is really one of the, I mean CBD is effective but THC really is needed a lot of those cases where there are a lot of actually very reputable and much, much cheaper CBD flour that they do still find that you could go on, I know one of the one that I recommend to my patients. I think that the product is very good I think it’s very reputable and the most important thing is it’s very, very safe.

Unknown 4:01

It’s called I believe it’s called Canna flower Hold

Unknown 4:03

on a second, let me just take a quick look because I

Unknown 4:05

know I believe it’s called Canna flower though and all it is, is, Like I said it’s just CBD CBD flower has less than 0.3% thc so you don’t and it’s obviously it’s pure flower so it’s full spectrum so you do get all the benefits out of it which is great. And I just, what I find is, is that That’s like a great way to go to it’s really yeah it’s called apologize it is called Canna flowers ca and then a flower, and they’re great, I mean they,

Unknown 4:39

you know they’ve been Canna flower, calm, probably,

Unknown 4:43

I believe so.

Unknown 4:44

Is Yeah, is that a California company. Nope. So

Unknown 4:48

the nice thing about CBD flower is because it’s less than 0.3% thc can be shipped to anywhere. Legally, so it’s. So, this is a great company, it’s been vetted by me and a couple other, another, another pharmacist does use a lot is utilizing it with their patients as well. And the one thing we found out about it is it’s really great. So what I would recommend for patients who cannot afford because I mean, when you get it from CBD flower locations as opposed to a dispensary it’s about half the cost if not more. So even something simple like getting a small bag from, like, from this, and then, you know, even if you’re like okay well I can afford, you know, a small, maybe an eighth of an ounce of a bag of or let’s say like I can I can I can buy a gram of a strain of THC and dispensary and I can afford, you know, an eighth of an ounce of this stuff. I always ask my patients, you know, whatever you’re trying, I will say you know blend them together depending on what they’re treating of course but if they’re treating it I’ll say stick with the stick with the CBD flour, and if you know when you’re finding that your brain is kind of chirping at you. Take a tiny tiny little bit like almost nothing of that THC and then go back to the CBD and then that way it will quiet the brim and keep you mellow for people with pain I usually will say, you know, kind of, do your best, you know, obviously keep the CBD ratio high, only because you know you want to like make the THC flower last as long as possible, and mix them together, but a lot of patients have started mixing them together in the same smoking contraction and been like,

Unknown 6:32

wow, like Alchemist. I love this, they have to be their own guinea pigs don’t they.

Unknown 6:39

Well, exactly and then you just got to figure out what works for you so if you’re like okay well I had a gummy that was a 20 to one that works great, well then just do the same math for or or contact me I’ll work with you all. Right, and figure out what part of your flower but same thing you know you use, you know, and you know, I don’t know like so if you’re using the two together you would probably use, you know, a you know a 10th of our 20th of what you would use of the, you know whatever CBD you put in us about a 20th of that of THC,

Unknown 7:12

and there you go, now

Unknown 7:13

you’ve got your 22 one that should help with your anxiety but

Unknown 7:17

listen, I really appreciate you telling me about caner flower because I only talk about a couple of other CBD shops that I have vetted, as you say it, and, and because they’re the only ones that I trust are the only ones I talk about so now that I know about Kaina flower I’m very happy to be able to tell our audience about that. I’m, I talk about Dr. Su lacs product too. I buy his CBD a product and I mix it with pi Rs, though. So, you know, I just feel like I get a lot more power for my punch by using his full spectrum CBD a and. And so I’ve had a lot of a lot better sleep with that product, and, and I’m using RSO tincture and RSO pills, but I know that what 60% of the inflammation in your gut. I mean, 60% of a product that you might ingest of cannabis has to be filtered out through your liver. I’m sure I didn’t say that correctly.

Unknown 8:33

So, so anything that gets ingested is going to go through first pass effects through the liver, and then when the liver processes it turns it into more of a sedating type of reaction. So that’s why a lot of people will find with edibles like with THC edibles, versus a THC urgent tincture or flour, they find that the

Unknown 8:57

or,

Unknown 8:58

you know, kind of mental like just felt like, oh wow, that kind of knocked me out versus the vape or flour with a lot of times people actually feel energized by it. Yeah, how the body breaks it down. But you know, usually I just, I usually try to stay away I usually prefer either concentrates for my patients, unless they desperately need them because the one thing that concentrates have been leading to is hyperemesis syndrome and as soon as you get that if you can’t reverse it. So pretty much that cannot be reversed. I talked to people that said they can kind of sorta sometimes they’ll have a little bit of THC and be okay, but like I am, I’m one of those people that it’s kind of the same thing as like any medication you know you, it’s like antibiotics, people, you know, will have a cold and go to the doctor and they won’t leave the doctor’s office until they get an antibiotic, even though a cold and. Yeah, it’s like the antibiotics not going to do much for that cold because it’s not a bacteria, virus and it made the patient feel better, exactly, but then the patient takes it well. Now when the patient actually needs to work, it’s not gonna work. So it’s the same thing when you use cannabis, you’re just going to use it. Oh, I need more you keep adding it adding it adding eventually you’re going to make it so it’s not going to work and it can be dangerous. So that’s why I always, I almost, I only recommend RSO, or any concentrate once the patient’s hit a point where it’s like, nope, like the basics you know are great and all but I really really need higher doses, which I get like chemo is very common, like when we see this where it’s like, well, of course you’re using us, you know RSO, why would you want to waste money on these lower doses that are not going to do something for you when you really need to dose at this high level every day.

Unknown 10:48

Yeah, so I’m trying to figure out how I can decrease that high level, because, you know, I don’t want to go down that path of high hyperemesis oh yeah and yeah, so. So I’m wondering, does. I’m wondering if Dr su likes THC A would be a problem for somebody with hyperemesis,

Unknown 11:16

so it probably would be just because THC does get converted your body to THC. THC A gets converted to THC, so it’s specifically THC that does not see and they have not found that correlation with CBD though, so patients still use it from from based on, you know, as we all know there’s minimal research but based on the research out there, you’re going to be getting the hyperemesis syndrome from too much, an overdose technically too much THC but not from the CBD,

Unknown 11:50

so good.

Unknown 11:51

Yeah, and the CBD regulates the THC which is great so I always explain to people if you’re somebody who does use a lot of THC, try to utilize some CBD, Because a you should be able to cut the dose of your THC with the CBD added to it and be you might actually find better ROI, you know better response and better results with both of them rather than just one or the other.

Unknown 12:14

I’m pretty sure I’m finding much better results with, With both of them, and it’s, it’s, it’s a hunt and peck process, you’re your own guinea pig and your own alchemists, and, and it’s going to change with every batch. So, this is going to be an ongoing process until we start pricking fingers for blood is it not,

Unknown 12:38

well so I disagree a lot of people keep bringing up the blood thing and I keep bringing up the point that if blood was able to be utilized to treat patients. Then why are we going to see doctors and getting pills and blood work just tells us what’s wrong, it doesn’t tell us, Oh, there’s this much of this medication the system.

Unknown 12:54

Oh, I see what you’re saying,

Unknown 12:58

just to find out how much cannabinoid you have in your system really doesn’t tell us anything it doesn’t throw it there, binding it doesn’t tell, I mean you can find out if they’re binding but it doesn’t really tell us if you’re being benefited by them. So a lot of people keep mentioning blood tests and I keep saying If blood tests were possible, then doctors would just do a blood test, find out what was wrong with you and be able to give you something exactly what you needed to fix.

Unknown 13:23

Thanks for clarifying that for me because, yeah, I get it and of course that makes sense.

Unknown 13:35

Think I mean I mean it’s a great idea. I mean don’t get me wrong. But then we would do that with all medicine and then that way, it’s like it’s, and that they have talked about that for years

Unknown 13:45

about course on Star Trek with that little salt shaker that Scottie uses right,

Unknown 13:51

or any of them like futuristic shows their focuses on. Oh, we’re just gonna do a scan on you and we’re gonna find out what’s wrong with you and then we’ll fix specifically that is, hey, if we could do that for cannabis we should be able to do that for everything so

Unknown 14:06

I’m sure that yeah I thought that, yeah.

Unknown 14:09

Oh, it’s okay, I do have Rosie

Unknown 14:10

the robot, working in my house now from the Jetsons, you’re probably a little too young to remember.

Unknown 14:18

No Rosie.

Unknown 14:22

I’ve got my I’m almost in my 40s so I’m not. Oh, you’re

Unknown 14:25

just a snot knows.

Unknown 14:30

The Jetsons we’re I mean, the Jetsons were one thing but I even knew, you know, I even know who the Jeffersons are and a lot of people my age remember like,

Unknown 14:38

oh my goodness, well rounded.

Unknown 14:42

You didn’t know that we

Unknown 14:43

were going to take you out.

Unknown 14:49

It’s so important that like and that’s why I always explain that until we do come up with that type of technology we have a blood test to say exactly what’s wrong and exactly how to fix it and I mean this, not just cannabis, until we have that professionals that don’t really understand what the medication is and how it actually works to be, you know, take care of ourselves because, you know, people can be king, do something that they consider so harmless and work and then find out oh my god, if I had just known, I wouldn’t have done that so I mean I have patients that I know that teaches personally but I’ve spoken to some THC colleagues that use color they use THC and they were actually only using concentrates and then, after talking to them about it. I actually was able to get them on as well. Okay, well you’re inhaling anyway, so why not try inhaling flour, and they’re like, oh well we only did concentrates because we heard it was best for the value I go okay well instead of doing that. Mix it, mix it with CBD flour and see with let me know what how you feel they’re like, oh my god, that was like a game changer. I’m

Unknown 15:57

like, See,

Unknown 15:58

they’re like, they’re like that went for me just pretty much getting the euphoria and immediately getting no euphoria, which I don’t really care about, but like, I felt great after that common point of cannabis therapy is not to be doped up because the point of any medical therapy is not to be doped up the

Unknown 16:18

point of the propaganda of cannabis is that you’re going to be doped up or more

Unknown 16:28

of the same but I always explain, anytime that comes up like the first thing I go is. So what happens to patients when they take their purpose and they’re not and the dose is too high. They get dope. As soon as providers are like, oh, man, that’s a good point, it’s like so dose makes the poison that’s the one thing we always learn in toxic, our toxicology class in pharmacy school his dose makes the poison anything kill you, at a certain level like water will kill you. So it’s the same thing with its dose makes the poison. And so it’s kind of like, you know, some people I’ve seen some people that tick that pop about three Percocet, a day get in a car and drive and they’re fully clear headed and I’m like, if I took a quarter of one of those, I’m walking into Wall, and it’s just, you got to go based on the patient, same thing like is RSO bad, absolutely not. But there’s specific patients, It’s use needs to be utilized for for those patients where, if you were to give them five Percocet, they would say yep okay awesome Have a great day I’ll talk to you later as opposed to the ones that I saw.

Unknown 17:35

And that,

Unknown 17:36

and that’s you know it’s it’s the same thing with, you know cannabis is, you know, it’s the same thing, utilize the medication to what you need to treat, but once you’ve treated it, you know, back off from there it’s kind of usually what I say and

Unknown 17:48

yeah let’s see, let’s see how well your body does without the aid of chemicals, and if you need more, it’ll be there but if you don’t, yeah. Cannabis is not, not that kind of makes me crazy because there’s an attitude of let’s get high, you know, and God, I love to get high, but it’s, that’s not what it’s about. It’s really medicine.

Unknown 18:17

Oh yeah, and that’s, and that’s my biggest thing between alcohol was like well, people drink. I’m like, Do you know how many people will have a drink because they don’t want to get that drunk feeling they just want to feel relaxation, and I mean I have read a couple articles about alcohol being used as treatment and I haven’t read enough into them and looked enough into the research to have a view either way because I’m one of those people where I’m not gonna say it’s right or wrong unless I fully review it and it’s not one, but the way I see it is that, you know, it’s, it’s kind of the same thing it’s it’s a lot of people take that drink after work to relax into kind of de stress, anytime you take anything for to de stress, it’s a medicine so I’m not saying that alcohol so I’m saying is a lot of people can be covering up their stress with a blanket, which is the same thing as narcotics or a blanket for pain it doesn’t fix the pain it just covers the pain. And it’s the same thing as I see alcohol with, with, you know stress is it covers it, where, you know, but a lot of the people who utilize alcohol to get rid of that stress from a stressful day don’t want to get drunk. They just want the edge off and that’s really what the cannabis can help with use properly is the edge off. I mean, most of them, I mean, I would say, all my patients if not most, I mean most if not all have, you know, aren’t getting any euphoria, from the doses they’re taking the only ones who probably are the ones who are purposely, you know, needing that to knock them out for bedtime. And then it’s like okay, well you’re utilizing it to kind of make you sleepy, which is fine because at the end of the night, you just want to go to bed, but for my patients who are using it for anxiety by patients using cannabis for ADHD, for you know for, You know xiety ADHD depression, stomach issues, insomnia, just everything really

Unknown 20:10

just, every, every normal ache and pain and issue that people have,

Unknown 20:17

and they’re not experiencing the euphoria, because that’s not what they’re looking for, they want to just feel at baseline.

Unknown 20:25

And that’s,

Unknown 20:26

and that’s really all I tried to do with my patients is I get them on the best therapy with or without cannabis whether without pharmaceuticals, with or without herbals depending on what the patient needs. And then I work with them until I can get them to a point where they just

Unknown 20:39

feel normal. Yeah, yeah, lubricated with cannabis. Exactly. Tell us your heart how the audience can find you and make your their make you their personal cannabis pharmacist,
