Welcome to the Cannaba Verum podcast, the cannabis truth podcast. I speak the language of cannabis freely and uncensored, while educating my audience on the safe use of this live Plant Therapy. You should know what’s in your cannabis, what’s good and what’s not. It does not come with an FDA stamp of approval yet, using cannabis mindfully, as medication is a different concept in the healthcare philosophy of the past 100 years. There’s a lot to learn and consider cannabis is not dangerous, but it is not harmless, either. This is honey Smith walls, a 21st century cannabis shaman here to explain the language of cannabis in historical, political, and scientific terms, so you can make educated decisions about the medicine you ingest.
Hello My Friends,
My pot dr called today… actually, of course, it was E.J., their receptionist at Cannabis Space Coast… he was just calling to see if they could perform a little task for me to stay . in compliance with the Florida cannabis law. This is what I call full-service.
You see, the legislators didn’t set up the regulations with the patient in mind… they set it up with taxation in mind. So every 7 months, whether you need to or not, the state forces you to see your Medical Marijuana Physician. That appointment takes more time to set up and sign in than the actual appointment does. Those doctors are not your primary care physicians. The only thing they want to know on those secondary visits is if you’re having any problems with pot. It will be very unlikely that you are. It may be VERY likely that you haven’t found consistent product for your issues but that’s not the kind of problem they mean. They’re looking for detrimental issues from the cannabis.
My pot card is about to expire next month so every year, my pot doctor’s office will call in advance to see if they can renew it for me. It doesn’t cost anything extra but it saves me the computer hassle. They have my credit card on record so they ask permission to use it for the annual state card fee. I love that.
My time is so limited now with my business and thinking about you that those mundane things escape me all the time. I don’t cook anymore… too busy podcasting and writing shows. I’ve had a good personal eating day if I slammed a PB&J with some cold chocolate soy milk… yeah I know, gross… soy milk. But I turned Vegan this year so I have to learn to like it if I’m gonna get all my protein in. I’m still a little wimpy on energy so I’m probably not getting enough protein. I hate worryin about food. You’re a lot more fun to think about.
For those who have been with me from the beginning, thank you. I’m nearing my 100th episode soon. 50 episodes of Cannaba Verum podcasts and 50 episodes of Moment of Clarity podcasts. When I hit the 100th episode, I have a very special guest coming. A giant in the industry with a story you’ll wanna hear.
I decided to simplify my show by calling all episodes Cannaba Verum after 100. And as you remember, Cannaba Verum is Latin for Cannabis Truth… which is the whole point of my show. Helping you understand the language of cannabis and learning to medicate with strategies for finding relief through this live plant therapy.
So let’s talk about some of those strategies. Once you get your Florida State Medical Marijuana card, you’re set to go to your first dispensary and see what’s available. Your cannabis doctor should have given you an idea of what to ask about… but more than likely you’re going to be completely overwhelmed by the choices you’ll see.
Break
So let me help you choose what to look for by HOW you’re feeling and let’s start with your sleep. Sleep is where and when you’re body repairs. So if your sleep is disturbed, then let’s figure out why and address those issues first. Maybe your bladder spasms and makes you get up to pee several times a night. Cannabis can relieve that spasming and let you sleep. Perhaps you’ve got body aches like arthritis that cannabis can tame for hours. Or maybe those recurring looping thoughts prevent your mind from shutting down… cannabis can calm your mind into sleep as well. And there’s strategy in the way you ingest cannabis products too. Products have different timing for relief. Some take longer than others to begin feeling the therapeutic effects but the relief may last longer than other methods of delivery.
For instance, inhaling a vape pen of concentrated cannabis, high in THC, will put me right back to sleep in the middle of the night after a bathroom run when my mind tries to start “work mode” again and begins to awaken.
But to quell the pain in my hands that start talkin to me in the middle of the night, I use a capsule of cannabis before bedtime. Anything you swallow takes a long time to go down to the gut. Your liver then filters and degrades the bioavailability, or how much actual medicine is left to be effective.
Using cannabis this way is not economical because you lose so much product through the filtration of your liver. But the advantage is that it’s effective for so much longer than other methods of delivery like vaping. The effects of vaping may be immediate… but it only lasts for a couple of hours.
Swallowing a capsule or tincture will last 6-8 hours! And by the way, you can get almost immediate effects from using tinctures if you do it right as well as benefit from the timed effects after it reaches your liver.
The inside of your cheeks have little bloody capillaries that absorb cannabis medication which slips through the blood brain barrier for immediate relief. So coating the inside of your cheeks with the tincture will garner effects a lot sooner than the rest of the product that slipped down your throat. But the rest of the medicine will be effective for a longer period of time so you’ve got the best effectiveness of both methods.
There are so many delivery methods to choose from in this kind of live plant therapy. And you should know that one product called 1:1 which has equal measures of two compounds like CBD to THC. And although all the dispansaries have 1:1 products, none of them are exactly alike because the cannabis they grow is different… it’s allllll different. Cannabis has over 500 compounds in it but each variety grows different compounds. So getting an exact chemical profile repetitively is problematic. The chemovars in the 1:1 from Dispensary A will be different from the chemovars in the 1:1 product from Dispensary B… they all grow their own varieties of cannabis. So when you find a product that works… be sure to check the Certificate of Analysis to find out what the real chemovar levels are so you can look for similar products, no matter where you’re purchasing from.
The strategies in using live plant therapy are so different and varied than the Western synthetic medicine we’re accustomed to using. And although cannabis can relieve so many typical aches and pains, it is a more complicated way of medicating than takin a couple of pills.
We’ll keep talking about the cannabis choices you have, the difference in those choices and the effectiveness for common issues that cannabis doctors are discussing all over the world.
If you haven’t discovered the new social media place called Clubhouse, I want to invite you to come in and listen to the doctors and scientists I’m following. I’m in the audience and sometimes on stage with a question that leads to an hour of medical minds debating whatever the point was. It’s completely fascinating and bingeworthy. I have to drag myself out of the Clubroom to go get anything done. It’s happens every Saturday at 9:00 Eastern.
All five of my puppies are all sitting here at my feet staring at me for their pack walk.
So Pax Vobiscum Yall!
