Honey Smith Walls 0:10
Welcome to the Cannaba Verum podcast, the cannabis truth podcast, I speak the language of cannabis freely and uncensored while educating my audience on the safe use of this live Plant Therapy. You should know what’s in your cannabis. What’s good, what’s not. It does not come with an FDA stamp of approval yet, using cannabis mindfully, as medication is a different concept in the healthcare philosophy of the past 100 years. There’s a lot to learn and consider cannabis is not dangerous, but it is not harmless, either. This is Honey Smith Walls, a 21st century cannabis shaman here to explain the language of cannabis in historical, political, and scientific terms, so you can make educated decisions about the medicine you ingest.
Aidan are you listening, we’re about to put your favorite person right back on this show. That’s right, Ganja Mama. Come on in, everybody, welcome Christine Stio, back to our show.
Christine Stio 1:12
Can you hear me okay cuz I came in and out a little bit. Okay, okay. No, I’m hearing you fine but don’t worry about that, you know, you can like last time wait a few minutes and see if it comes back or a few seconds or whatever and if it does, because I get to chop this part out, if I want to half the time when we’ve got little glitches like this, I leave it in for our audience because it’s real and it’s happening in real life. Yeah, I want them to know that I’m sitting here in my home enjoying a cup of whatever and a conversation with my friend Christine about really important science stuff. Amen Oh, that’s gonna make a matter to them, and about your new company that’s you’re going to be one of the first and the leaders in the state, aren’t you,
Christine Stio 2:30
well yes I, because I started so when I started so early, he’s like you really in a good timing right now he’s like, I haven’t even thought of this. He’s the first person that retains him actually for cannabis because he’s, you know he’s a lawyer, he does all kinds of, of law, you know, real estate, I know that real estate he does zoning and land. Environmental cannabis is one of the things he’s focusing on as well. And I think I was one of his first clients to retain him for a license. So I’m excited. I want to make a difference, you know, I want to be, be a change I want to use my voice for good. You know what, like what is the purpose of our lives if we don’t try to change things that need to be, and try to come up with solutions for things that need to be fixed and
Honey Smith Walls 3:29
this was the confusing part about life, to me, before I realized this passion. Right. You know I was struggling to find the meaning. Oh, you know, what’s the meaning, where’s the main aim now. Your prayers because, you know, I believe,
Christine Stio 3:49
if you, you know, try to really focus on what what are your God given talents.
Honey Smith Walls 3:55
That is true and serving others yeah
Christine Stio 3:58
serving others and it’s not about us, you know it’s theirs. It’s a bit way bigger picture than us. And I think
Honey Smith Walls 4:07
it’s about surviving the planet and what we’ve done to it,
Christine Stio 4:10
we’re all Gosh, that’s that breaks my heart and then I’m hoping that hemp. And, you know, hemp and cryptocurrency and cannabis. I’m hoping we, this will help save the planet because
Honey Smith Walls 4:26
we just don’t know why the, they’re not talking about all of the money that this is already bringing in, right, bring in ga-billions more and pay for everything that they’re trying to do now with these $6 trillion budgetary, you know, things plans that they want to push through. Good god, thank goodness for them, pushing them through because our society needs every single dime that they’re going to get,
Christine Stio 4:57
yes we need the money, but it needs to be funneled properly,
Honey Smith Walls 5:01
you know, and yet so much of it is just sitting there in the banks… been sitting there not getting to the people so right, you, there’s
Christine Stio 5:12
so many hidden agendas, you know, that we have to keep that’s why keep pushing, keep pushing, keep speaking out. Because the more people that speak. It’s it seems like such a small thing but then that ripple effect that positive ripple effect.
Honey Smith Walls 5:28
Oh boy. No kidding. Yeah, how are you finding other entrepreneurs like yourself in this particular genre of our industry, and looking at the way that they’ve done their delivery services to. Yeah, absolutely. I
Christine Stio 5:46
definitely have been your favorite though. My favorite is His name is Christopher, he’s out of Boston, Massachusetts, and his company is called Your Green Package Delivery He and his fiance started the company, and they’re social equity applicants as well. And he’s been such a blessing to me because I’ve been in like seeing his posts and his, his success, because they’re ahead of us, They’re in Boston, Massachusetts, they’re, they’re up and running. So, their adult rec program is going and up and running and he went through an incubator program through Lantern that I’m hoping to be a part of. And just, he’s such a role model, you know, I’m seeing his posts and he’s been featured on the news and the radio, and it’s such a positive young man and him and his fiance really want to make a difference, and they want to be a voice for social activism and change. And I just feel so blessed to have that connection and to see their process and what they’ve been through, and you know he’s given me some tips and like I said I’m following his journey.
Honey Smith Walls 7:01
So, well, Christine, it just makes me you know the next, the next question is so obvious. When are you going to write the helpful course that will, you know, get others, startups, yeah, in the, in the right frame of mind and thinking about the right things so that they don’t, you know, hit all those pitfalls and that gives them a leg up in the industry too. Yeah, so I would think that would be a really great thing for you to just keep your Keep it keep notes every day journaling of who you’re talking to and I, you know, oh my God, then yeah of course you do.
Christine Stio 7:43
I have two notebooks filled. I started taking notes, and I started recording all the notes I you know yeah there’s a podcast or an article I read, or a zoom, or you know a zoom conference meeting with, with a wonderful person, on LinkedIn. I take notes every time and now I’m almost done with my second notebook. I’m like, this isn’t a book,
Honey Smith Walls 8:13
it’s a book already,
Christine Stio 8:14
this is amazing like that since May I, you know, like I said I’ve been interested in the cannabis industry and doing something in Canvas for years now, but I knew, like I knew it was going to go legal I always knew this, but I, it was like, always like something I talked about I was manifesting it, and I was like you know this is what I’m going to be doing. So, now that it’s here, a year I put the plays into motion but I didn’t get active on LinkedIn until May, but now I can’t live without LinkedIn,
Honey Smith Walls 8:46
I can’t either. You know, I chose to social platforms, I chose Facebook because I was already on it, and had several other pages and I thought well I can bounce them between my own pages and lalala, right, and then I chose LinkedIn, like, as opposed to Instagram, where some of the others, because, because I’m sure you you’re feeling this overwhelmed by all the new platforms we have to learn. we do have a
Christine Stio 9:17
lot of platform, it’s crazy. It’s just wild. And it looks like wow, two months, you know, it’s only the grocery store and seeing 10 Different kinds of one thing, and you have to really like think Okay, which one is the best which one’s the best for me. Let me read the ingredients. Were you
Honey Smith Walls 9:35
with me yesterday when that happened at the store. Honestly, it is why it’s overwhelming
Christine Stio 9:40
is and I do this app. It’s called Noom, and oh, I heard about it, wonderful honey, like if you and they have a free version and I do the free version, but what it does is helps you know which foods are what they call green, red, or yellow, green, yellow or red and the green foods are what you want most stuff so I don’t currently all your fruits and veggies, but there’s a lot of whole grains that are also green, but you you’ll know if you could scan it with your app. So I’ll be in the grocery store scanning things like all that we scan this let me see is it
Honey Smith Walls 10:15
Oh my Lord, You just gave me. So first of all I had no idea that new mat of free. Free issue, so I’ve been wanting to go there but I didn’t want to pay for it because I can’t afford I can’t. And I’ve got several friends already on Noom who are talking about how great it is, and they look great and they’ve lost weight and they feel better, and they’re happy with their foods. Yeah, and I have just changed from doing three years of keto. That’s why I had to go to the cardiologist. Uh huh. And, and I hurt myself on keto for now, you know, just eating just fat, yes, and. And then, but I lost weight. I lost 100 pounds. Oh wow, that’s like, like they know. So during COVID this over 2020 I’ve gained 20 pounds back and I’m wondering why I have no energy while Hells Bells. Yeah, it’s because, yeah, well thank you I’m gonna, I’m going to download Noom today,
Christine Stio 11:19
well you know I’m a firm believer in balance, and not everybody like I, way back, way back when I was married. I tried like a keto diet. It did not work for me and it made me feel so sick, and I need vegetables I need fruits I need balance, a whole grains. So, I always do the best with a balanced diet so when I started when I tried new for the first time a couple years ago, I did it first I did the paid version because I had like I had like a good amount of weight to lose, so I was like, you know, let me try the paid version I need that I need the moral support I need the right product. If you don’t, you know if you have good willpower and you don’t feel like you need a constant like knowledge, and I feel like the, the free version is just as wonderful obviously honey I will help you I will answer any questions you have about the app,
Honey Smith Walls 12:16
you know it will. Thank you, because, Christine, I went from keto to vegan. Oh wow. And I gotta tell you I have cried down the aisles of grocery store because I didn’t know what, what to get, right you’re overwhelmed without a clue, I’m overwhelmed with, I don’t know what the I don’t know what I can eat right, well, and I don’t want to spend any time in the galley because I’m too busy trying to get my foundation laid for my business. Exactly. I’m not gonna spend three hours a day in the kitchen I’m not going to do it. No, no,
Christine Stio 12:56
and I’m the same way I’m so I need a list of go to food. Oh, honey, I will, I will give you my recipes, obviously, I use like you know some. I do use meat so if you if you’re going to stick with vegan, you know I don’t have vegan recipe I can substitute it, you sure can. Yeah. So, there are other kinds of high
Honey Smith Walls 13:15
possible meat that they’ve got out. Absolutely incredible. And I just found fake eggs. Plant eggs! Okay, and so I didn’t even know they existed but there’s a product that comes in a little small yellow plastic jar on the refrigerated section. Yeah. Yes, and it’s called JUST.
Christine Stio 13:36
okay now are they are they healthier, have you checked with like Dr Leah or Dr. Codi Peterson said,
Honey Smith Walls 13:42
I just got them yesterday. they should be good for you, they’re all plant they say that they’re vegan, but I I can’t, I can’t wait to talk to Dr. Leah about it how or Codi, oh my gosh Codi Peterson isn’t he adorable he is a love. He is is amazing. His personality is so good. Yeah, for our audience Dr Codi Peterson is a pediatric pharmacist for God, I think probably every hospital in California. Oh I don’t know. Yeah, and he’s, you know, and he’s been head of this and that and degrees as long as your arm and leg put together yeah he knows this but he’s just so personable and he looks like he’s about, I don’t know 22 Yeah, no, yeah, you know, yeah, he’s just so personable and he’s teaching all of us so much work. That’s why we’re so excited about it. Oh yeah he’s, because it’s so easy to learn with him.
Christine Stio 14:43
It’s so easy to learn so down to earth on, he really wants to make a difference and help the audience understand how to be truly healthy, how to reach that homeostasis that we’re all longing for our body’s longing for homeostasis and how do we get there we have to eat right, we have to exercise, yep, you know cannabis therapy, whether it’s THC, CBD or combination. Things natural things, you know, so many people like Dr Leah she how she tries to tweak, you know, the medicines or ons you get gets you to the least amount of medication possible is huge, you know, taking all these pills with all these side effects. And I loved what they were talking about putting somebody on the lowest dose, so your body will learn to heal itself.
Honey Smith Walls 15:35
That’s right. And then we titrate the tiniest amount, yes titrate right. Gotta learn the language, you know, the most important fundamental words of cannabis are micro-dosing, titration, and journaling. Asking for proof of medical grade medicine from a reputable lab. That’s right.
Christine Stio 16:14
I have a Certificate of Analysis (COA)(4) to prove there’s no bad juju in it, and I make sure that lab who did the COA is reputable, right, they’re actually doing their testing the proper way. And you know as a teacher, I believe in that, helping the body to reach that homeostasis, through ways our body can heal itself through self regulation self healing self soothing that’s what we try to teach our students. We don’t want our students have to rely on us. I always said I was a facilitator in the classroom I wasn’t, you know the authoritarian teachers shoving information down their throat. I was facilitating their education so we were all learning from each other.
Honey Smith Walls 17:02
What a great frame of mind and you know,
Christine Stio 17:04
yeah, it’s it’s what life is all about, you know, that’s why like on LinkedIn, we could learn so much from everybody. And it doesn’t matter, you know how many years of experience, a person has how little experience, but there’s always something to learn from somebody new. And the more we reach out and talk to people, the more we’re going to learn and the more it’s going to help the world, because,
Honey Smith Walls 17:29
well, it’s as much fun as it is to talk I’m really trying to keep my Yap shut on a lot of those, you know, great platforms where it’s so fun to jump in when they, you know, when they say come on up, ask a question, you know, it’s, it’s, it’s fun to to go up and ask a question, but I like I said I’m really trying to keep my Yap shut so I’ll learn a little bit more.
Christine Stio 17:57
You have so much to share honey so don’t well, like what you have to say, because I’ve learned so much from you. And I think this is a perfect segue to tell you, your podcast was how I found Dr Leah.
Honey Smith Walls 18:12
god I’m grateful to hear that Christine thank you for that. That’s like, I mean, that old chocolate over my heart to
Christine Stio 18:20
you so that ever since then I’ve been a huge fan of yours and obviously Dr Leah, but you know if you want me to go into the Segway about Aiden, I can talk to what we’ve been experiencing with advocating for his medical needs.
Honey Smith Walls 18:38
Please tell us about him, and, and what your day is like within what his day is like, sounds good. So,
Christine Stio 18:45
so, you know, when I heard your podcast you’re interviewing the beautiful amazing brilliant actor Leah, and she’s a superhero, she started talking about what she does and I’m like wow, like maybe I need to contact her about Aiden because My poor son. You know he’s his anxiety has been through the roof. Ever since I’d say he was about 13 You know he you know he is what they call like, you know, when you look at the spectrum, he is what they say quote unquote higher functioning. He can do a lot of things he’s very, he has all his language, but he still struggles, quite a bit, especially with his anxiety, he’s got a lot of OCD tendencies. And so, with, with the hormones that started at about 13 So, you know his hormones when he was like 1112 they were manageable and he was experiencing some really happy days. And then all of a sudden that 13 It was like whoa, this poor kid was inundated with all these hormones and body going through that. It’s hard enough, but we all did
Honey Smith Walls 19:57
it’s terrible.
Christine Stio 19:58
It is terrible and then when you have, you know, a disability on top of it, or any kind of special need, it makes it 10 times worse and a lot of the autistic community. A lot of the parents that I was reading like on, you know a lot of like research I was doing about how to help him. They were all telling me like listen, it’s going to kind of mimic him at a very young age, you know, pre language skills, he’ll get really frustrated mad toddler yeah like a mad toddler exactly like tantruming. Yeah, and sure enough honey, it was like that it was like tantruming all through the day just very frustrated low frustration tolerance,
Christine Stio 20:38
you know, generalized his self help skills and use words. Unable to self regulate. So, fast forward, I you know was trying all these different things, you know, he sees a specialist, his pediatrician, we tried, you know, we tried hydroxyzine we tried propranolol different ways to change his diet. We tried all these different approaches and still he was struggling. So when I listened to your podcast I was like whoa, like all right, I need to reach out to Dr. Leah, and so I reached out to Dr Leah, and she looked at all his prescription medicines, and the first thing she said was like look, we need to switch the time of day, he’s taking these medicines, oh my goodness, so she switched the time a day, and that did seem to like take a little bit of stress. To help. So then the next step was adding in the THC because he was already on a CBD regimen,
Christine Stio 21:40
what was it, tell me about that. Okay, so it was what’s called. Gosh, let
me look at my thing. It’s called Clara seed, Clara seed is by Columbia Care and
Honey Smith Walls 21:54
Columbia carry is here too.
Christine Stio 21:55
Yeah, it’s the MSOs. So, you know, everywhere, but, um, so, is let me think, the ratio I think it’s 20 to one, so 20 parts CBD, or my saying that wrong so
Honey Smith Walls 22:09
yeah no no no
Christine Stio 22:10
One part THC and 20 parts CBD, so very low dose he was only getting one milligram. In the morning, one milligram. In the evening.
Honey Smith Walls 22:26
So was it two isolates or was it a full spectrum product.
Christine Stio 22:29
So it’s a full spectrum product. So it’s a full spectrum. And he was, I’m telling ya. What a difference, so he wouldn’t even be able to go to like a family party, or even the grocery store would cause them or even just getting him into the car to go to an appointment was becoming a huge deal because of his anxiety, he was having several panic attacks a day and that’s why they put him on the propranolol, and while the propranolol helped with his panic attacks, it did not help his overall like anxiety was still right for anxious, you know, yep. So, I noticed right away I’m like you know he, he’s definitely transitioning easier he’s more. He’s a lot more re-directable. his mood is lifted, he’s not as obsessive.
Honey Smith Walls 23:21
So what was the ratio change.
Christine Stio 23:22
So, we were not on any kind of THC therapy until Dr Leah, so she just put him on that low dose on the Clara seed which is 20 to one.
Honey Smith Walls 23:35
So, yeah, so that was huge.
Christine Stio 23:44
And then, once a day, twice a day, twice a day at breakfast and dinner. And he’s like, Claire seed also has a tincture. So if he had any breakthrough anxiety, he would take that during the day and he hasn’t really needed that much once a while, but we’re still working on things we’re still trying to tweak some stuff with his medicine. Yeah but you know it’s it’s tough because he’s 16 Right, you know, and I want him to be independent. I want him to have a life that’s filled with quality because he’s such a brilliant young man. And I don’t want his anxiety or his anything to stand in his way to live to his fullest potential.
Honey Smith Walls 24:22
Aidan’s life is hard enough without all that anxiety.
Christine Stio
Exactly, exactly. So, This is the best part.
Thanks for joining us today. You’ve been listening to another Cannaba Verum podcast with 21st century cannabis shaman honey Smith walls, about the importance of using safe hemp and marijuana products. The process of taking your records with your symptoms and diagnosis to a cannabis specialist can lead you to the correct cannabinoid therapy for your best results.
