Hello my friends,
We continue this fascinating journey with Bonnie Drake, an RN who’s given her entire life to healing others, and now has to live with trying to heal herself. Thank you for joining us to hear the rest of the story right after the intro…

Welcome to season four of the Cannaba Verum podcast, the cannabis truth podcast.
I speak the language of cannabis freely and uncensored while educating my audience on safe use of this live plant therapy. You should know what’s in your cannabis…what’s good and what’s not.
It does not come with an FDA stamp of approval yet. Using cannabis mindfully as medication is a different concept in Western healthcare philosophy, specifically of the past 100 years. There’s a lot to learn and reconsider.
The information you’ll find here comes straight from scientists and clinicians doing the work and reporting their findings in real time through various live online outlets.
The scientific truth of cannabis is finally getting out and is wide open for all to see at respected medical sites like pubmed.gov and JAMA, the Journal of American Medical Association… and I’m right there in the thick of it with all those titans of medicine… as a fly on the wall.
Because I’m not a doctor, nor did I go to med school. But I did take dozens of private cannabis courses and still engage in continuing education offered by cannabis expert scientists over the past few years and slowly began to see and understand the bigger picture.
Now I talk to people all day long about cannabis and hopefully inspire them to research the facts as we know them today. Cannabis is an amazing alternative in health remedies. It can reportedly alleviate typical disease problems and troubling side effects, even those caused by synthetic prescriptions.
This is Honey Smith Walls, a 21st century cannabis shaman, not a doctor, not a scientist, raised by nuns and wolves in the verdant cattle pastures of the Oklahoma oil fields. I’m here to amplify the truth of this great big story of cannabis in historical, political, scientific and spiritual terms, so you can make educated decisions about the medicine you choose to ingest.

Bonnie Drake, RN2:50
I think there’s a huge, huge need for just someone like me like you that can get these folks educated. Now, another step that I want to pursue is getting these doctors and these nurses educated on the endocannabinoid system. Now how can we do that? Well, I am a member of the holistic Nurses Association. And the holistic Nurses Association now has CEU classes for physicians and nurses on the endocannabinoid system. Oh how cool is that? They can earn while they learn because they gotta have continuing education credits or they can’t keep their licenses right
Honey Smith Walls 3:45
well, they’re gonna have to be directed to get CEUs in cannabinoids there because I’m telling you, their own biases would have kept them from doing so at this point.
Bonnie Drake, RN4:04
Well, that’s exactly right. And until it’s mandated, they won’t. That’s right. That’s why going in and having telling people I mean, I had posters here that students had made up and and one of it’s got a picture of a doctor in a lab coat, and it says, ‘Ask your doctor if CBD is right for you.’ And I said that is the dumbest poster I’ve ever seen. I said, Who the hell wants to ask their doctor anything about CBD? They’ll write it in your chart that you’re a drug seeker. That is biased care I have seen.
Honey Smith Walls 4:42
This is the sort of stuff that makes us afraid of our own damn doctors.
Bonnie Drake, RN4:49
Well, we don’t we shouldn’t be afraid. I’ve got a girlfriend right now that’s in the intensive care unit at the University of Michigan with sulfa burns because they gave her a drug she was allergic to!
Honey Smith Walls 5:00
Yeah jeezus.
Bonnie Drake, RN5:05
Over here she just fell and broke her pelvis because they put her on Gabapentin for sleep. That’s an anti psychotic, not a patent for sleep.
Honey Smith Walls 5:15
So they’re using off label they’re using drugs off label… Right and over prescribing. Yeah. Oh, it’s an amazing web of problems that this Western medical system of sick care has provided for all of us. And then they don’t give us any education in our body at all. We have to go to the doctor and tell him what our aches and pains are and then he decides what’s the matter with us. And then he decides maybe what prominent drugs are being used for us to try understand how to be a cannabis Alchemist for ourselves.
Bonnie Drake, RN6:25
Well, they have no clue now.
Honey Smith Walls 6:28
really and so they’re gonna go to the bar… they’re gonna go to the Canna bar and they’re gonna get blitzed and and it’s gonna scare the hell out of them.
Bonnie Drake, RN6:38
Well, yeah, it will. I don’t know what for…
Honey Smith Walls 6:42
It won’t be effective in a way that they’re looking you know, right because if they’re searching for a solution to how they feel somehow, you know whether it’s emotional or physical, right. Then cannabis is a great alternative to the synthetics that Western sickcare feeds us. Right, right. But it’s alchemy friends, there’s 1000s of compounds in this plant. And there’s alchemy involved in not only what you’re ingesting from the plant, but what it’s going into all that pool of Juju that you’ve got going on in that bag you carry around you call a body.
Bonnie Drake, RN7:24
Right, right. Wow. Well, I can’t take statins, they make me hurt. They make an ache I can’t take them so I had that 100% blockage of the LAD. And I knew that I was just… I mean, I’m totally on a cardiac diet…
Honey Smith Walls 7:46
Of course, but what’s that mean? What’s the cardiac diet?
Bonnie Drake, RN7:50
I don’t eat any fried foods. I need just good healthy, low cholesterol foods.
Honey Smith Walls 7:56
Okay. I’m a vegan so I eat a lot of fried foods but I don’t eat meat and I don’t do dairy so Yeah, but you can’t eat any fried foods.
Bonnie Drake, RN8:10
I don’t eat any fried food. Yeah. So, okay. So then my cholesterol kept inching up. So this summer got up to 259 my cholesterol. Oh, so I said I’m pulling the plug on this and I started my research and I found a plant doctor in Battle Creek, Michigan, which is 80 miles from where I live. I made an appointment. I went to see her and she put me on. Are you ready for this? Plant hormone pumpkin seed oil!
Bonnie Drake, RN8:55
I take it in the morning with my regular pills and at night.

Dr. Mazo Commercial
By Honey Smith Walls
Hey, my friends, I want to give you a tip about a neurologist I know and trust.
Dr. Anthony Mazo is a highly rated specialist here in Melbourne, Florida.
One of the first physicians to research and study cannabis since 2016 when it was legalized in Florida, Dr. Mazo is not quick to prescribe traditional synthetic chemicals when he knows that this gentle live plant therapy will likely give the needed relief.
I know this to be true because I had to see him for my own old lady neuropathy issues. He did not prescribe the usual synthetic stuff. He told me to go get a particular kind of cannabis instead… and use it in a specific way to find relief.
And that is what every doctor in America should have in their little black bag.
His clinic details will be in my show notes for you. Why? Because he’s a trusted cannabis expert in the field of neurology. Dr.Anthony Mazo in Melbourne, FL at the Brevard Neuro Center.

Really? Yeah, so that leads me into my next question. Have you heard of Healer? Dr. Dustin Sulak and his healer CBD products? You mentioned earlier that you’d like to get into more affiliate work and Dr. Dustin Sulak is one of the leading scientists in cannabis like Dr. Ethan Russo and Dr. Rafael Mechoulam, right. He has this beautiful product and his website is just healercbd.com. I am also an affiliate of Dr. Sulak’s because I trust his product. And because he puts his his formulation into a compound that I can’t get down here, I can’t get CBDa and he uses the acidic form which is you know, a little more powerful, little more potent, so you don’t have to use as much and then it saves a little more money in your pocket, right? So that might be just for your edification.
Bonnie Drake, RN 1:27
So are you using just CBD and CBDa at this point?
Honey Smith Walls 1:31
No honey, I am a Florida medical marijuana patient and because of my own personal issues and I’ve got a few of them… they are in the nature of arthritis and nausea, constant nausea, lack of energy. But I’m working with thyroid and hormones to correct that. And so, my arthritis is so bad in my hands and I’m just not going to go back to opioids… I’m not gonna do it, you know, and so I do take a high level of THC. I got this tumor growing on my gum. And so I want to manage that with a high dose of THC as well. And that’s what my doctor recommends… an RSO form of THC for that tumor. And then it also takes care of the pain in my hands which is pretty big… the pain in my hands wakes me at night.
Bonnie Drake, RN 2:38
Oh I’m sure I know. I have rheumatoid…
Honey Smith Walls 2:40
So you just toss and turn and your sleep’s all fucked up. Pardon my French. Then what do you gonna do? So again, I go to a higher level, but that’s just me. Not all people need a huge whopping dose of THC, but they might need a big whopping dose of CBD. But the CBD and the CBG can help with all kinds of things, right?
Bonnie Drake, RN 3:12
I have used CBGa Honey.
Honey Smith Walls 3:15
I haven’t yet but I’ve got it available at Dr. Sulak’s Healer CBD. He carries CBGa. I’ve just been so… well the truth of the matter is I find myself taking care of everybody else before I get to myself.
Bonnie Drake, RN 3:35
No and that’s easy to do. And when I did, I gave too much stuff away.
Honey Smith Walls 3:40
That’s what I keep doing too. I keep giving my own damn bottle of CBDa away and then you know in hopes that the patient or the person or the friend or loved one is going to use it and if they want to use it then they can buy from me, okay. Okay, gives me a little bit of money. It gives them a little bit of a discount, and it finds more people interested in what Dr. Sulak has. So and if you’re lucky enough to live up in Maine, you get his THC products as well.
Bonnie Drake, RN 4:16
Uh huh. Wow.
Honey Smith Walls 4:19
Yeah.
Bonnie Drake, RN 4:20
So now do you do any events or any that sort of thing down here?
Honey Smith Walls 4:25
I’m happy to do events but COVID kind of put me in my bubble and I’ve been here ever since. And so I really loved podcasting. I didn’t know that I was going to enjoy the work so much that I was going to meet so many fabulous people. And, you know, the benefits of spreading the word… the good word. Right. Wow. Just keep coming back to me tenfold. So, I love what I’m doing.
I love love, love, love, love what I’m doing and events. I do live stage events on Clubhouse every Sunday at eight o’clock am I’m there preaching about the spirituality of cannabis. And usually I just leave all that stuff alone on my podcast unless I have a guest that wants to go there but there are so many other topics and rabbit holes in cannabis to go down the I just leave that sort of introspective look at ourselves with cannabis, which I love. It’s such a healer spiritually. Yeah. And I tried to leave all that for Sunday, but then there’s this follow up chat with my girlfriend Saara. And she’s a shaman. And so I’m still learning to be good at what I’m doing. I love the influence of other healers like Dr. Sulak and Dr. Russo and Dr. Mechoulam and all those, you know all our tribe on LinkedIn who are so smart. Oh, yeah. So I mean, I just bow to your medicinal knowledge that you know and the medical training that you’ve already had years in college that I never had benefit of. And so you’ve got all that body knowledge.
Bonnie Drake, RN 6:26
That’s what amazed me when I first started all of this and then when I started taking the classes… what…. this makes sense!
Honey Smith Walls 6:35
Yes.
Bonnie Drake, RN 6:37
It just opened a whole new world and then after I first got on CBD, I mean, I was on 17 medications. I’m on three. Now. I weaned everything else out. This took me a while but that’s how I roll. I’d much rather take my pumpkin seed oil than that because it’s going to knock a lot of stuff right out of me that I had no clue that this pumpkin seed oil had that kind of power.
Honey Smith Walls 7:06
I am thrilled to know about this. It tickles me and I can’t wait to go do the research and find out more.
Bonnie Drake, RN 7:16
Yeah, when she scribbled on a sheet of paper all the things that it does and it’s like, Holy Toledo. Are you kidding me? And we just throw those seeds away?
Honey Smith Walls 7:28
Exactly. We are so much more like a plant than we realize. Oh yes. When you start looking at a plant microscopically, you begin feeling the origin of your own seed.
Bonnie Drake, RN 7:47
Well, exactly, exactly. And I’m not a grower. I don’t want to grow this plant. After learning all the things it’s capable of doing, how the soil can affect it, how the watering can affect how it…
Honey Smith Walls 8:02
sucks up metal and gets mold and mildew.
Bonnie Drake, RN 8:08
I had to take the classes. I needed them.
Honey Smith Walls 8:12
Yeah, I love the classes on learning how to grow and learning what not to do and what to do. But I’m gonna leave that to the professional farmers who really love doing that and spend their whole life doing it. Yeah, and I’ll talk about them and interview them and love on them.
Well, honey, I so appreciate your real perspective on this. And thank you for my audience. I’m glad to know as a woman and a survivor of your own history, that you’re in such a wonderful place now even in transition. It sounds like a wonderful place for this serious woman in weed.
Bonnie Drake, RN 10:03
okay, well I’m not going anywhere anytime too soon.
Honey Smith Walls 10:09
It sounds like you’re working a really good plan. How can our audience get in touch with you if they’d like to chat with you?
Bonnie Drake, RN 10:16
I take all phone calls. So call my number and I will answer.
Honey Smith Walls 10:25
I’ll post it in the show notes for you then. Okay. All right. Thank you. Well, Bonnie, it has been an exhilarating, frightening, terrifying whiplash with snapping neck popping adventure, listening to your story. And again, I’m so tickled to have met you today. I can’t wait for us to get together at events. Wait, we can’t go anywhere yet. Do you do events?
Bonnie Drake, RN 10:53
I will do events.
Honey Smith Walls 10:55
I’ll come to events with you too. And maybe we should just get our own event together and do it. That’s what I’m thinking maybe we should do. All right. Well, you’ve got my number now too. And I’ve got yours so there are some other women in weed around in our neck of the woods. What county are you in? Indian River. Okay, and so that’s just barely south of me. And I’m in Brevard, just north. So okay, so we’ll get together and have some fun and get some other women in weed together and do some of our own?
Bonnie Drake, RN 11:28
What do you say? Sounds like a fun time.
Honey Smith Walls 11:30
I’m thrilled. Okay, Bonnie, it’s been so much fun talking with you, honey. You take care. All right. Bye bye.

You’ve been listening to another Cannaba Verum podcast with 21st century cannabis shaman Honey Smith Walls about the importance of using verifiably safe products. The process of getting a diagnosis from your family doctor and taking your records to a cannabis specialist can lead you to the correct cannabinoid therapy for those issues. Otherwise, you’re just your own guinea pig looking for answers without any foundational knowledge or ability to determine the best choices or strategies.
To find a qualified cannabis expert in your area… visit www.cannabisclinicians.org.
It is a national society of cannabis experts and you’ll see that link down in my show notes.
Unless otherwise proven by a reputable third party lab test, please be advised that all street weed is contaminated. It may do grave harm to a patient with a delicate immune system who already has inflammatory issues like arthritis, IBS, fibromyalgia or worse.

Cannaba Verum is Latin for Cannabis Truth. Sourcing factual information about cannabis hasn’t always been easy for a variety of reasons. However now because of modern innovations, it is. My sources are from leaders in cannabis science like:
Roger Adams, U.S. Organic Chemist who isolated the structure of CBD,
Raphael Mechoulam, Israeli Organic Chemist who isolated the structure of THC,
Ethan Russo, Dir R&D International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute
Dustin Sulak, DO – my favorite doctor at healer.com, teaching the art of Cannabis Healing to the world, and other industry greats like:
Rev. Dr. Kymron DeCesare, Ed Rosenthal, Jack Herer, Michael Backes, and Michael Pollen and so many more… plus I use classical sites like: PubMed.gov, JAMAnetwork.com, ResearchGate.com. I listen to several daily podcasts to keep up with the latest cannabis news across the nation and throughout the world like: Dr. Codi Peterson et al on The Cannigma Podcast, MJTodayDaily.com and MarijuanaMoment.net. I trust the CBDProject.org and CannabisScienceTech.com. I watch the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) at: thecannabisindustry.org and many more like: NCIA’s Cannabis Industry VOICE (CannabisRadio.com)
Over past episodes of Cannaba Verum, we’ve listened to some amazing scientists and medical professionals talk about their discoveries and patient successes as hundreds of questionable compounds rise to the public grasp. I am especially interested in the pharmacists movement becoming an integral part of this new medicinal choice.
Watch this machine roll into action through conversations with pharmacy doctors all over the nation like Dr. Leah Johnson and Dr. Codi Peterson out West and Dr. Alan Ao up North. There are so many more getting involved now… these are just a few who have come on my show to explain the situation and it’s fascinating.
You’ll find citations available on my podcast blog at cannabaverum.com
PS: Helping society get past the fear of using cannabis will be a lifelong journey for me. This industry is just opening up and most patients and doctors are seriously cannabis naive and need help understanding where to turn for trustworthy information.
If you need help opening that cannabis discussion with your family doctor, please reach out and grab the Dear Doctor Letter I wrote for this exact purpose. It will explain your decision to try cannabis and ask for their help in monitoring your labs and progress. It will also show them where they can find medical research on the subject of your diagnosis and the effects of cannabis.
