Intro:

Welcome to season three of the Cannaba Verum podcast, the cannabis truth podcast. I speak the language of cannabis freely and uncensored while educating my audience on safe use this live Plant Therapy. You should know what’s in your cannabis. what’s good and what’s not. It does not come with an FDA stamp of approval yet. using cannabis mindfully as medication is a different concept in Western healthcare philosophy, specifically the past 100 years. There’s a lot to learn and reconsider.

The information you’ll find here come straight from scientists and clinicians doing the work and reporting their findings in real time through various live online outlets.

The scientific truth of cannabis is finally getting out and is wide open for all to see it respected medical sites like pubmed.gov and JAMA, the Journal of American Medical Association and I’m right there in the thick of it with all those titans of medicine… as a fly on the wall. I’m not a doctor, nor did I go to med school. But I did take dozens of private cannabis courses and still engage in continuing education offered by cannabis experts scientists over the past few years and slowly began to see and understand the bigger picture.

Now I talk to people all day long about cannabis and hopefully inspire them to research the facts as we know them today. Cannabis is an amazing alternative in health remedies. It can reportedly alleviate typical disease problems and troubling side effects, even those caused by synthetic prescriptions.

This is Honey Smith Walls, a 21st century cannabis shaman, not a doctor, not a scientist, raised by nuns and wolves in the verdant cattle pastures of the Oklahoma oil fields. I’m here to amplify the truth of this great big story in cannabis in historical, political, and scientific terms, so you can make educated decisions about the medicine you choose to ingest.

Seg 1:

It starts with the farmer growing cannabis… as hemp to be precise. The raw plant is taken to a lab that extracts Cannabidiol, aka CBD, from that plant…

Through the magic of chemistry and synthesization, that CBD extraction is changed into a compound called Delta Eight Tetrahydrocannabinol (D8 Thc… and further abbreviated to D8).

D8 Thc from hemp mimics Delta 9 Thc from marijuana in a subtle way. It doesn’t quite pack the punch of D9. But for some, it’s just the ticket. Especially for those who don’t want to get too high. 

There are a lot of elders who would appreciate a little less wooziness as the fear of falling is huge for elders because it can be an overnight permanent change of life… another little factoid those young whippersnapper budtenders don’t recognize or relate to as they push company products heavy with high thc levels.

D8 is not a compound the plant grows naturally. Cannabidiol has to be turned into a synthetic compound… like all your other prescription meds.

…and then it’s loaded into a paint sprayer to wash low quality hemp plants with that compound synthesized from CBD but turned into a synthetic called D8…

…and then it is sold as D8 flower… as if it grew that way. Or so the typical purchaser would assume since they don’t really study this stuff like me.

D8… Delta 8 Tetrahydrocannabinol does not grow in a plant. It is created by synthesization and mostly in somebody’s backyard shed, garage, or unnamed secret laboratory somewhere.

There are no lab standards or FDA approval of safety. There are no human clinical trials.  It’s another hippie toy to get around the stupid laws and get high. That being said…

I love getting high!  But safely. When I want to…  Not this way and not as a surprise! I don’t believe an elder would find this product helpful if they weren’t expecting euphoria… they’re so afraid of getting high and FALLING! The majority of elders I see on cannabis don’t want to get high… they just want relief from their aches and pains.  They’re probably already battling nausea and brain fog and wooziness… plus arthritis pain and high blood pressure and as fat as we all are… you can add diabetes to that list. Those are just the TYPICAL issues off the top of my head.

So if I think its so bad… how can the shops keep selling it over the counter? Beat’s me… they’re still sellin cigarettes and alcohol, too.

But back to the euphoria that so many people seek… look up the word and it’ll say something like ‘a feeling of well being’. Well I want to feel well and as though all is right with the world I’m in or at least calm the chaos for awhile of the situation at hand.

Look, your particular propaganda has been in your head for a long time if not all your life.  It’s not reasonable to think it’ll change overnight… although, it can. That’s what we call an epiphany which is often a life-changing thought.

And with mindfulness… the euphoria that comes with thc… is an opening of creative thinking…  my line of business requires it.  I’m a Creative. An educator, entertainer, storyteller, musician, an artist, a friend, wife, mom, grandmother, animal keeper, etc… all those hats take different skills and considerations and levels of patience and cannabis helps me with that. It could help you too.

I’ve been podcasting for years and writing content about this industry… trying to deliver ideas about cannabis that can be easily digested in ways that won’t overwhelm… a challenge in itself. Because I try to amplify the very day to day discoveries of the cannabis expert scientists I keep up with. Their anecdotal patient stories are fantastic news for those who are new to cannabis.

So when I keep seeing products on the public market that are seriously questionable regarding contamination without any testing on humans or proof of what’s in it, I’m concerned for the cannabis industry as a whole and the elders about to buy that product. 

Recreational customers don’t frame cannabis the same way or use it mindfully for their health. The Recreational bunch usually just search for the high.

Those products are made and sold to Recreational types who don’t have access to legal weed with high THC. That’s not who the main constituent is in Florida! Further, the people buying don’t have a clue what’s in it, where it came from, if it’s safe, and seemingly don’t care. Look how many people still smoke cigarettes and drink excessive alcohol… even though they KNOW it’ll do grave harm.

The stigma of cannabis propaganda is still quite prevalent. So we have to build trust with the public who have been pounded with cannabis misinformation for most of their lives.  And it was our government who lied… then regurgitated the disinformation for almost 100 years.

Doctors and other cannabis-naive medical professionals, law enforcement, legislators, and corporate heads have made it tough to push back because of their perceived authority and the public’s lack of access to truthful information. In short, if they weren’t part of creating the chaos, they still believed the propaganda and that rubbed off as an impediment to public understanding and acceptance of cannabis.

So we’re starting in the middle of the motion and both excavating and forecasting the story of cannabis.

You have to understand history in order to believe what you’re seeing in the present and take action to frame our society in a more balanced way for all.

We may have begun this country with a philosophy of religious freedom but that isn’t what’s happening here. This country was intended to be free from religious authority over civilization. To influence through the mind and morals of the heart but not through the laws of civilization.

The philosophy of a religious minority should not infringe on MY freedom to ignore their philosophy and strive for equity. This country was born looking for freedom but turned into control of others… and everybody other than Free, White, and 21 was Other! Once again, the inequitable philosophy of a few religious should not enslave the rest of us.

I hate this idea that some of our legislators are restricting society with religious nonsense that cannot be debated because their god said so. Therefore no matter what the argument, as in a 10 year old rape victim getting an abortion… even if it means she could die in childbirth because her body is not mature enough to birth a baby…that’s religious control.

I just heard on the news this morning that Sterilizations and Vasectomies are up over 200% because of SCOTUS in our wombs and future. It’s maddening and I’m so grateful to have this platform to fight back against it. 

I have yet to discover a religion that doesn’t harm and I’m thinking every young boy at 16 needs to have a vasectomy at this point. Reversible only after years of mandatory formal study in “Relationship with Women”… “Fatherhood Training”…  and “Parental Training” for the couple who create the child.  In my dreams… right?

Well the problem may be a mountain of lies and misinformation but I learned how to climb as a toddler and I’m not afraid to shine a light on truth.

As I said earlier… there’s no human testing on D8 Thc which is a synthetic compound sprayed on hemp plants so customers can get a little high.

But if you’re buying that product without any kind of assurance that there are no contaminants in it, then you really are just blindly consuming something that might hurt you.  Remember the Vape Pen scare? 

People died because they were buying products that poisoned them with Vitamin E contamination or they were injured facially by burns and projectile parts from bad batteries or their product tested for heavy metal flakes and other contaminants.

There have been a total of 60 deaths across all 50 states and the islands plus over 2000 hospitalized for product use-associated lung injury (aka: EVALI).

Pay attention to US and World news about cannabis… not that you’ll hear anything positive yet…

And here’s my final thought about using D8 Thc… it was created to get around the law. And the laws are completely stupid across the world.  But if you find a company that 3rd party lab tests their products and strives to care for the person as a patient, then I’m loathe to tell you not to when it may be the only thing that saves you from terrible health issues.

Do your best to find out the simplest truth about that product… does it have a 3rd party lab test? Did it test for contamination and does it say the product is what it’s supposed to be? Not 20 other compounds and no cannabis or very little when you’re expecting a lot. The fake products out there are just as expensive as the real deal.  Easy to waste $90. on a bottle of CBD with no 3rd party lab test and nothin but contamination and oil in it.

It really is Caveat Emptor my friends… Buyer Beware… Because there is no oversight for these over-the-counter products and you just can’t trust them without proof from that 3rd party lab.   

Ask these questions when you’re about to lay down some money:

May I see the 3rd party lab test on this product?

Does this company regard their clientele as customers or patients?

They’re different mindsets. If they’re customers, there’s very little trusted scientific education on the benefits, safety precautions, or information on the companies of the products they’re about to ingest.

And are there legitimate reviews about the product and company?

These 3 questions are the least amount of vetting needed to be careful.

So I’ll say it again… Caveat Emptor dear friends… Buyer Beware.  But if you must… you’re now armed with protective information that will keep you safe from contaminants at the very least. Caveat Emptor my friends.
