MoC 040 Finding Help

June 7, 2021

Welcome to the Cannaba Verum podcast, the cannabis truth podcast. I speak the language of cannabis freely and uncensored, while educating my audience on the safe use of this live Plant Therapy. You should know what’s in your cannabis, what’s good and what’s not. It does not come with an FDA stamp of approval yet, using cannabis mindfully, as medication is a different concept in the healthcare philosophy of the past 100 years. There’s a lot to learn and consider cannabis is not dangerous, but it is not harmless, either. This is honey Smith walls, a 21st century cannabis shaman here to explain the language of cannabis in historical, political, and scientific terms, so you can make educated decisions about the medicine you ingest.

Hello My Friends,

I’d like to relay a little story that happened to me yesterday when I was looking for help. Maybe this has happened to you in a different way. But it’s happening and I’d like to help you recognize it so you’ll know how to respond.

I was scrolling through hundreds of emails when I noticed something from a professional in the podcasting industry. He was practicing the art of email marketing which is something I’m learning to do.

It’s no secret that I’m new to this profession. Or that I’m 67.  Or that the pandemic folded my previous business plan.

Podcasting was perfect for me to create a new career in the cannabis industry. I love helping patients understand this live plant therapy.

Although I did not go to traditional medical school, I did learn about the plant from various smaller institutions and knowledgeable scientists sharing their findings. I can tell you more about cannabis than most doctors at this stage.

My new plan is podcasting twice a week about cannabis, having special guests on occasion, offering my new ebook, companion mini-course, and speaking at conferences. This is a plan that translates to any subject or passion. Whatever you’re good at can be expounded upon to help others become as good as you are at that. Boy I talk like an Okie!

The point is, I’m building a brand new career and you can too. I’m doing it on a shoestring budget and making it work. I’m learning on the fly and practicing on the go. And I explain my path along the way so other women can find a solution for financial independence.

At this level, money is made from something you produce to sell. Podcasting is only a tool to amplify my message and lead you to my products. There’s no money in it at this stage. Big names can get sponsors but I’m not there yet. My website will be set up for e-commerce which makes the whole thing run like a machine in the background.

So I’m scrolling thru hundreds of email and see an enticing “click me to find out more” button… It was about understanding how to perform a particular action in my business plan so I was happily clicking away on their Click Bait. They got me.

They got me because their bait was exactly the short-cut info I needed. It was valuable to me. They baited me with something of value so I’d click on that button.

Click bait is good when it can provide something you need of value for free… then it continues to offer you special deals on other similar opportunities with much more detail at a higher price. But its stuff you’re interested in learning so it’s pertinent.

I keep a sharp eye on some of my favorite cannabis schools for new offers on classes with discount prices… if I click now… etc… That’s clickbait.

I buy a CBDa product through the mail from healer.com by Dr. Dustin Sulak.

I watch his emails for discount click-bait too. I’ll be doing the same thing as my reputable friend and only offer real value in my services or products.

Click bait turns bad when it teases you with nothing of value for more unimportant meaningless junk offers. Trash emails. Ick! I get hundreds of them a day and at one point, I hired a Virtual Assistant to keep up with them for me. She had to unsubscribe from as many as possible so I could weed through them faster to important stuff.

So back to my story, I pushed the big red button on that email click-bait, got a free download of information, and was offered more detail on the same subject for $20.

The free download of info gave me a succinct outline of what I was trying to figure out.  Worth the click. And then they offered all the details of HOW to do that for $20 along with a free 30 minute consultation with a pro. He would answer any questions I might have about the process. Great idea! I love having a pro to ask! I’ll do that too!!

As soon as I clicked instructions to view this video… then that video… and another video, and finally the last two videos and then a questionnaire to fill out about the stage of my business so the counselor can catch up before calling. That was annoying. It took another hour and a half out of my busy day to hear testimonies about the program. Ick. I didn’t need that. I won’t be doing THAT to my audience!

This is where I use caution. Filling out those forms. Sometimes I use my business email and sometimes I use my personal. Depends on how often I want to see that recurring email.

I gave the history of my business and the current stage I’m in with this new plan.

The counselor called before I could finish their questionnaire and we immediately clicked personalities. Oh… this was gonna be fun.

We started talking about the product download and how it would help me. He asked a few more pertinent questions about my business and then when I answered, I asked if he understood my industry yet or had he already looked me up?  He had. He was curious about what I do and how I do it. He didn’t understand anything about cannabis and found the information fascinating, asking more and more questions. Suddenly I realized that I was the counselor. He was taking notes.

After about 10 minutes of  helping him understand cannabis, I asked him a question about the info I’d just bought. His reply stunned me. I had misinterpreted the situation.

Break

He said he couldn’t counsel me anymore.  I’m in the cannabis industry.  He shut me down and refused to speak anymore.

He apologized saying they cannot talk to anybody in the cannabis industry because it’s a schedule one drug. He already asked me if I sell marijuana or CBD.  I told him I don’t touch the plant… I’m just an educator. I only TALK about it. He apologized again and said he can’t speak to me anymore. But he thanked me for buying the $20. product.

I told him he got a lot more education out of me than I did from him.  It was a good thing the call was free or I’d of been really upset. As it was, I had only invested my precious time.

I wanted him to appeal my case with his superiors because they, like our state legislators, are making regulations without knowledge. Cannabis is good for humanity. Corruption is the only reason it’s outlawed.

While I was trying to set up my business foundation for Cannaba Verum, LLC, finding a bank that would accept my company was not easy.  The schedule one rating of cannabis scares all FDIC banks away. They don’t want the feds yanking their cork out and banks are famous for shutting down accounts involved in the cannabis industry. It’s corrupt. Because treating cannabis as a schedule one drug is corrupt. And the feds know it. Remind them of their cannabis patent that states how efficacious the plant is…

One of the reasons I used the Latin words for my business name… Cannaba Verum, which means Cannabis Truth, was to prevent a banking problem. How many bankers know Latin?  So I went to a small bank and quietly opened a new business account under the name of Cannaba Verum, LLC. Shhhhhhh no problems yet. But I keep multiple accounts with fairly low numbers so if I get stung it may not hurt so badly. Utterly ridiculous that I have to bother like this.

I hear Chuck Schumer is now leading the cannabis charge in D.C. but until the plant is off that damned schedule one, we just have to continue fighting the ignorance of their actions.

Only just recently were the dispensaries able to find a “workaround” to the cash-only problem they were stuck with. Banking rules prohibited patients from using credit cards to pay for marijuana. For almost 3 years, patients paid in cash for hundreds of dollars of medication at every visit because the dispensaries couldn’t take credit cards. Every pitiful patient driving into the parking lot and hobbling into a dispensary with their walker and air tank becomes a target for thieves who know this rule. It’s no secret patients are at a higher safety risk because of the cash they must carry.

I got most of what I was looking for in that 3 hour block of time it took to click on the button, watch the videos, fill out the form, and have a live chat with their counselor.

And now I have this story to tell you about how goofy some companies can be over cannabis and the legislative issues that make them behave this way.

Whoever made the decision at his company that none of them can work with anybody in the cannabis industry is just ignorant. I just TALK about cannabis and they won’t do business with me. Just like the doctor who told me to never speak to him about cannabis again or he would drop me as a patient. He didn’t have to… I dropped his as a physician for not communicating with or serving me professionally.

I made my case to the company counselor and asked for an appeal. Now it just has to sink in. They’ll mull it over. Maybe the next cannabis company who needs a little business help will be able to get it from them… like they advertise in their click bait.

As it turns out, there are plenty of those guys around to help. That particular company is extremely famous on the internet and I understand their ignorance about the law and the plant and their decisions. That’s what I’m building this whole business around. That ignorance and fear.

Frustrating as that can be, it’s just all part of the process. That wasn’t the first time I’d come up against it and it certainly won’t be the last, We have to reeducate ourselves about cannabis. We’ve been lied to from our own government about it for 100 years.

I say this plainly so you’ll understand. Our government has lied to us about cannabis for almost 100 years while owning a patent on the plant that touts its amazing medicinal properties. Google it. Government patent on pot. According to your own government, cannabis has some pretty amazing restorative properties.

And by the way, everything I tell you about cannabis can be backed up by scientific data found all over the internet at reputable medical sites like JAMA, ResearchGate and PubMed, where doctors and scientists submit their white papers and data from CRTs (Controlled Random Trials).

Finding help building a cannabis business is not easy. It’s a brand new industry being thwarted by federal and state restrictions… even when the people vote to allow it’s use, the legislators cripple patient’s ability to get what they need.

In Florida, somehow the legislators think they know enough about Medical Marijuana to tell the doctors and dispensaries that they must “Cap” THC at a certain number so people don’t get so high.

What medical school did they go to figure THAT out? Who was their teacher who said capping THC for everyone is a proper medical procedure? Did they do that with morphine? Did they do that for the lisinopril you use for high blood pressure? Did they do that for Advil?

You see my point. Legislators have no business in the little black bag of a doctor. And by the way, I don’t expect doctors to know how to run the government either.

But I do expect our single vote to be counted and measured to do the will of the people.

What are you doing to make sure your vote is counted?

If your answer is nothing, then get off your ass and do something.

We must all contribute.
