MoC 028 Pets and Cannabis

March 15, 2021

Welcome to the Cannaba Verum podcast, the cannabis truth podcast. I speak the language of cannabis freely and uncensored, while educating my audience on the safe use of this live Plant Therapy. You should know what’s in your cannabis, what’s good and what’s not. It does not come with an FDA stamp of approval yet, using cannabis mindfully, as medication is a different concept in the healthcare philosophy of the past 100 years. There’s a lot to learn and consider cannabis is not dangerous, but it is not harmless, either. This is honey Smith walls, a 21st century cannabis shaman here to explain the language of cannabis in historical, political, and scientific terms, so you can make educated decisions about the medicine you ingest.

Hello my friends,

This is Women’s History Month so I’d like to talk about a woman who has taken the historical traditions of veterinary medicine from the back of our minds to a new attitude.

She brings a culmination of experience, traditional western medicine, and Chinese philosophies to her Colorado brick and mortar practice in which she also includes At Home services. Her goal is to help patients feel better and educate pet parents about the true needs of their critters and how to balance their lives. Let me remind you that all humans and animals (not insects) are born with an EndoCannabinoid system of receptors that bind perfectly with the 400+ compounds in cannabis.

Dr. Angie began her love of animals with 2 black kittens at the age of 3. She decided early on to be their advocate and went to Texas A&M university to become a veterinarian. She learned about integrative, Chinese, holistic therapies like acupuncture and realized the value in home visits to minimize stress during feline or canine rehabilitation.

Her approach to the different species is obvious. For cats, her respect of their space and desire to be permitted to discover a new human on their own terms is key to their cooperation in the rest of the visit. Cats have very different standards of boundaries than dogs which Dr. Angie is strict to observe. With that initial respectful distance, the felines will usually allow all kinds of handling and discovery… even sit still for acupuncture needles to be placed.

Break

What Dr. Angie found is that cats don’t readily get the same level of vet care that our dogs do.  They suffer dietary issues from lack of good nutritional food, they suffer emotional issues like high anxiety from being penned inside without entertainment or stimulation,  and they get lonely and depressed which leads them to act out. They get back issues and can’t jump and they have eye disease, get diabetes, and have renal failure.

Our dogs have other issues besides fleas and heart worms. They get food allergies which cause inflammation, they get back issues and suffer immune problems, and some have terrible anxiety when we leave them.

All of these issues can be helped if not eliminated by using a CBD therapy with a little extra TLC… not thc!  And Dr. Angie has even figured out a dosing schedule that has worked for her animal patients and you can it find online at her website for free at BoulderHolisticVet.com.  I’ll list that on my blog as well on my own website and have a link to hers.

I’m so impressed that she makes house calls like the old vets used to. It’s so much easier on the whole family and critters. Her services at home include: wellness visits, vaccinations, lab work, acupuncture therapy, nutritional counseling, physical therapy, and Chinese herbal therapies.

She also has an online store of products for animal therapies that are pretty impressive from my standpoint in both cannabis and as a pet parent of 5 dogs and 2 cats with pricing I thought was very fair. Plus you can sign up for her pet-parent CBD course that will definitely turn you into a confident cannabis therapist for your critters. She wrote a book called “The Miracle Herb – Everything you need to know about CBD for your pet” and in full Disclosure, I took her course and loved it. She has videos and downloadable files and pdf’s about everything you’ll want to learn.

I wanted to highlight this amazing young woman during Women’s History Month because she is changing history! She has opened the door for more sympathetic treatments and developed new protocols that will mean a happier more balanced life for your pet.  Her skills in teaching us how to communicate with our beloved pets and recognize all their needs is a gold star quality she’s already managed to accomplish in this early stage of cannabis animal therapy.  Dr. Angie Krause in Boulder, CO is the new pride of wellness in animal care and I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a closer look at what veterinary medicine could look like in your neck of the woods. Ask your vet today, if they know about cannabis therapy and how they could utilize those products to help your pet.

Visit Dr. Angie Krause online at BoulderHolisticVet.com.

Thank you for hangin out to hear how a top notch animal professional uses cannabis to help her patients. My own vet here in Melbourne recommends the use of CBD for their patients too so the news is definitely getting around.

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a little about cannabis and veterinarian use and please visit Dr. Krause’s site for more info.

Pax Vobiscum yall.
